No problem with that. Contracted till 2017, saving the club £65k a week by not signing.
I think Sterling wants to see which players arrive in the summer. Losing Suarez would have been galling for him, even though it was likely to happen.
Talented player, wants to play with other talented players.
This is what the club needs to think about too.
I think, like De Gea, he's waiting to see if his club get CL football or not next season.
the interveiw sounds to me,if we dont get
the CL place hes off
Surely as a player who could have done better this season he needs to take some responsibility for the clubs position.
Mmmmmm?? Why does the op feel this tastes good? Or is he attracted to Sterling?

Nothing wrong with wanting to play in the top competitions and teams, or going after more money, if that's what you're after, but if you are going for any then your form should probably earn it. Has his form been that good this season?
When asked if he is happy about what Rodgers has said about him to the press....
uhh no as i say uh as a 10 year old i've just always um loved to play football and um obviously to hear the fans and um some of the people in the media say i'm a greedy boy well uuhh as a 10 year old obviously all i want to do is play football at the highest level and that's what i wanna keep doing in my career and everytime i finish a game its about the contract everytime i score a goal its about the contract i've got 2 years left on my contract
I had to laugh at this interview. It's another player who thinks that it's all the players around him that will determine if he stays. Success starts with Raheem himself producing the goods on the pitch to bring us into contention for a trophy. So far it's not looking good, he can then just walk and blame others around him while pocketing a large amount of extra money.
He can the go to a club and be a passanger while other players win the trophies for him and he becomes rather rich.
Not the attitude we need to progress as a club and certainly not what we need from a player who has been made what he is by the club giving him the opportunity to become a first team regular from the youth set up.
I hope we show him the door.
What has sterling actually done to warrant the wages and to even imply that he is waiting to see whether pool achieve cl.
I completely got Suarez but what has sterling done to justify all this?
Reading between the lines.....i want to win trophies and play with world class players, if its not at Anfield then it will be somewhere else.

Instead of questioning why sterling deserves a new contract, why don't you direct your attentions to the club, you know, the one you support. They clearly believe he warrants a contract of 100k a week.
He didn't ask for a new contract. The club offered it. And like any employee in any workplace in the world, he is well within his right to reject it.

Yeah that's what I've been thinking since this all came out, and I don't blame him, he's been our best player since Luis left and was a huge part of the second half of last season, he's done everything he's been asked to do.
But he's going to be a great player IMO his development has been seriously impressive, he's looking at a five year deal, he's not worth the huge salary at the moment but other clubs may well be willing to pay him it now as he has a good chance of becoming good enough in two to three years time to be worth it.
If he's telling the truth and it's nothing to do with money, then I'm not quite sure what he thinks he's done to have have some sort of divine right to play CL football. Can't help but feel that Rogers' man management of him has inflated his ego to rather atronomical heights.
Looks like a fair interview to me.
Sounds like he justs want to know the club is going in the right direction in terms of challenging for trophies, not settling for being a top 6 team who rarely wins anything.
I don't have a big problem with that. It's a bit big headed for a young player, but there are not many 20 yr olds around as good as him in Europe, that's why he won the best young player award.
If he's telling the truth and it's nothing to do with money, then I'm not quite sure what he thinks he's done to have have some sort of divine right to play CL football.
..............
Maybe because the majority of teams who qualify for the CL would jump at the chance to have him in their teams?
I can see why he wants to keep his options open by waiting for the summer to see if we are playing in Europe.
It's debatable whether he's good enough for the top teams and most would agree this place is the best place for him footballing wide in his development. We've offered him a very big contract to go with it and is refusing to sign. It's very dissapointing, he seems to forgetting what the club has done to make him what he is to day. Either way I'm not concerned, if he stays then great, if he leaves he's very replaceable.Seems to think he's a lot better than he actually is.
Exactly.
Liverpool can buy players easily from say Southampton because they are seen as a step up.
Sterling can play for teams who are currently in a better position than Liverpool, so it's not surprising that like Lallana and Lovren he looks at that and thinks 'why not'?
We can't have it both ways. Moan at Southampton for asking for a big fee for wantaway players and then moan at Sterling for showing the same ambition.
His problem though will be the price we set for him if he doesn't sign up. Many CL sides will be priced out of the market.
Seems to think he's a lot better than he actually is.
---
I don't think he does at all.
I think he recognises he is one of the best young players in Europe, that's all.
Best young players, potential wise. That's the difference, he is miles away from the complete players in Europe who have proven themselves for years at CL level.
Suarez was the best player in Europe for much of last season, he signed for 180k per week.
He is one of the best young players in Europe.
It's a fact, evidenced by stats which have him at the top of most categories for players 21 and under in his position, and the fact he won the best young player in Europe award for 2014.
Obviously, the best young player in Europe is going to want to be at a top club competing for trophies with those players who are better than him.
Who is he going to learn from if he is the best player at Liverpool at 20? He needs to know he will have top players to learn from.
