None of the players coming in would excite me

No way would Newcastle sell Janmaat for as little as £7m.

Enrique is not out of contract until 2016, why give him a free?

Benteke has been pretty average for two seasons now.

Gustavo is excellent but why would he leave Wolfsburg who are improving all the time and will be in the CL next season?

Haven't we already paid the money for Origi? Also there's no way we'll make that many transfers.

You've already bought Origi

TBH with you I see you struggling to sign the players needed to get back into the top 4 again - most of the ones mentioned wouldnt get you any higher up the table IMO, the contract renewals is the first battle to take on

Our focus at the start of the summer should definitely be on getting new contracts for Sterling, Hendo and Flanagan.

It will be very hard to get top players even if we do manage to get Champions League, I think it would be best to keep a settled squad and try and make wise investments in one or two areas.

Whether players are good or bad... Ins and out like this is a pretty thing to suggest.

You build a squad not by decimating it every year. One in one out and let it organically become a strong squad.

Last summer was a necessity as our squad couldn't cope, this year that depth has helped us in that we have had people ready to slot into places due to injury. For example our CBs as the moment.

Agree with most of it but players like Wisdom have a role in our team. Was solid early on this season and when he was given a chance with us. Simply put he hasn't been played since pulis come in as well pulis likes a certain type of player.

Has anyone been watching Ilori this season? I've heard very little, seems another worrying transfer in all honesty.

I haven't seen any of Ilori but I have just done a stats comparison on Squawka, compared him to Thiago Silva, Skrtel and Sakho.

He has only played 11 games, 926 mins, but his stats are pretty good.

He hasn't made a single defensive error in that time, so no errors leading to a goal either.

He has made the most interceptions per game out of all 3 players with 3 a game (Skrtel is 1.81, Sakho 1.69). He is about level with Sakho on duels won, but below Skrtel and way below the super dominant Thiago Silva.

His pass completion is decent, 86%, but lower than the other 3 players (90% and above).

Tackles won is also impressive, at 1.75 per game. Only Thiago Silva is higher at 1.95 (Sakho 1.29, Skrtel 1.04).

He hasn't made a single block in 11 games, which suggests putting himself on the line is an area he needs to improve defensively.

His key passes and chances created per game are 2nd only to Sakho, which suggests he is a good passer of the ball and is willing to pass forwards.

He passes it longer on average than the other 3, who are all about the same, which would explain why his pass completion percentage is lower. This might just be because Bordeaux play more direct generally.

All in all they are pretty impressive stats for a young defender against 3 far more established players.

His only issue appears to be staying fit. He has started 7 of their last 9 games though, including a 3-2 win over PSG.

Will be interesting to see what formation you use next season.

Not the most exciting names other than Gustavo but pike R1 said would he even come to us? Besides I'd rather see Can given a run in midfield.

Did anyone know of Vincent Kompany before he joined City? Well I didn't, apart from this season he became monumental for City.

Some of the aforementioned OP's players may not be household names, but they could become immense.

Lucas deserves to be on the bench, for shoring up the defence later on in a match.

this is silly and counterproductive. we bought in a load of players with potential last summer to bulk the squad as we decimated our wage budget of the deadwood prior to that. yes some are not good enough but we cant just gut 10 players from the roster and not suffer next season, much as we have this year.

I agree we must strengthen certain areas and yes there are some who haven't fulfilled potential or reached previous heights, but only 2 maybe 3 players this summer to come in and 2/3 to leave. the newcomers need to be first team challengers and not 20 year olds with potential again
