I'm pretty sure that a Chelsea player has never won Player of the Season.
They'll be handing us the PL title and POTY awards through very gritted teeth.

I dont agree that he is the only real candidate but I do agree on him being the player of the year...so far
Sanchez, Kane have had very good seasons aswell

A German striker for Frankfurt has similar goal stats to Kane yet won't sniff POTY while the likes of Robben and KDB are around.
Same should apply to Kane with the likes of Eden and Sanchez.

Out of interest, what makes you so sure? Robben has only been footballer of the year in Germany once and they have history of going for players that hit form for one year, e.g. Grafite from Wolfsburg and Gomez when he was relatively unknown at Stuttgart.

9 different UTD players have won POTY since 1973,
this in comparison to only 1 Chelsea player !
I think Lampard in 2005/6 & Drogba in 2009/10
should have won the POTY
5 or 6 of Hazard goals have been penalties.Aguero should be player of the year and second best player after him is Sanchez.Hazard is the third best player this season in my opinion and the best player of Chelsea for sure.
Hazard instigates virtually every Chelsea counter attack, he is at the inception and is on the ball in deeper positions as well as in the final third, Sanchez doesn't have nearly the same involvement as Hazard.
The gap between them has been vast this season, Hazard is a shoe in.

Hazard has been heads and shoulders above them. Surely you would agree that whilst most of our players have had poor 2nd half of the season, there is no denying that, at times that Hazard has carried Chelsea through difficult periods and it's because of Hazard consistent good form, Chelsea find themselves at the top of the league so far.

Ridiculous how there is no hype regarding Austin's goal scoring stats. He has only scored 2 less then Kane whilst playing for a far worse team. If Kane is in the running for POTY then so should Austin.

Austin plays for a crap team and is older. Kane is being hyped up because he's young and plays for Spurs.

Alexis has done way better than Hazard, 20 goals and 10 assists in his first season so far.

Thats in all competations. In the league hes got 14 goals and 8 assists.
Zola in 97 and Lampard won the writers award and as been mentioned Terry won player of the year in 2005. Lets not forget Henry and Ronaldo were playing in the 2000's. As an aside Ginola won an award one year when Man Utd's votes were split amongst a few players.

I couldn’t really give too much of a hoot but it is nice when players get recognised for their efforts to a degree, but you’re right their contribution is part of a team and trophies (along with silly money) are the real reward.
It actually grates on me to see how much it means to Ronaldo to win WPOTY, he needs it to stroke his ego but then this is a man who was upset that Bale scored for his team when he thought it was his divine right to be credited with the goal, it meant more to him he didn’t score than his team scoring.
Still I will be delighted when Hazard and Kane get their respective awards since I put money on a double months ago.

That's funny, we've only been awarded 3 penalties this year. Where as Arsenal and City lead the table for most penalties awarded. Think what you meant to say was "Hazard SHOULD have scored 5-6 penalties this year".
I think Hazard deserves it. It's one thing to look good in a team full off average players, and another to look good in a team full of stars. Aguero is a close second. The fact that Chelsea will win the league may swing it, but then again if the votes were done in January then Sanchez, Aguero, Matic, Fabregas, Costa, De Gea all have a shout.

Luckily we really haven't had to experience it. I do think if Hazard or Matic were missing for a decent amount of games in a row this season, we wouldn't be so far ahead.
Hazard will deservedly win it and Alexis will deservedly finish 2nd. After that, who knows?
