Not entirely Ledley's no. He won promotion for lowly clubs like Portsmouth and was reasonably good for West Ham. Hail fellow well met with a name which cropped up everywhere. Good footballer and a top name of his day.

It will be the same at Old Trafford from now on in, they need a big name there to continue the success they had under SAF, Moyes hardly fit the bill but LVG does.

But he's what 63 now so won't go on much longer. Short of Poyet and Mourinho it's hard to see who will continue the good times there.

He got 1 team promoted
He finished 5th 16 seasons ago
He won 1 trophy in a 30 year career

That makes him a big name in your eyes? Stunned.

van Gaal had a proven track record at the biggest clubs. Name has nothing to do with it.

Exactly!

Exactly what I'm saying Greatteams, exactly what I'm saying. WE NEED a coach with a proven track record, like LVG who we nearly had or FdB, proven track record. Why are you so angry?

4 wins on the trot with Ajax is good enough for me. Yes, for the worst article ever it's doing well isn't it?

Chickasaw...

so you are bigging up FDB. how much of ajax have you seen under him? what would you say his managerial strengths are? and what aspect of his style at ajax do you think would be particularly beneficial to spurs?

no one is saying that FDB wouldn't be a good spurs manager, we are just saying that your logic is a joke.

4 league championships on the trot obviously means he has good motivational skills and that's what I mean by 4 wins on the trot Greatteams, 4 league wins on the trot which speaks for itself. He obviously knows a good player when he sees one and Dutch football over the years has been very good and I think he'd bring a good brand of attacking football to Spurs. Best I can do ok.

Has FDB done much in Europe?

posted on 13/4/15

Neither. No Spurtle he hasn't but with the right team he could I think.

This is the same team that, as you've told us, has won the league title 4 times in a row. Should they not be enjoying more success in Europe?

posted on 13/4/15

Possibly yes Spurtle but even if he were to get us into the CL it would be a vast improvement on recent years wouldn't it?

FDB could not have been closer to being our head coach it was he who decided to change his mind and put the job off to the summer. At that point flavour of the month Poch was around and Levy plumped for Poch.

This happens all the time flavour of the months. We only ever appointed Harry after being rejected by at that time flavour of the month Mark Hughes. Harry was appointed because Levy used him as a mentor sort of thing he was very much a backup option that worked out well.

Hard to say if FDB would have done different but I believe he is now waiting on the Barca job to come up again. So we will probably never know.

Unless something crazy happens Poch will be given time at the club. Personally I do not think he will last though until 2016. The next head coach will be Jurgen Klinsmann and we will start the process all again haha.

I think he'll be waiting a long time then.

I can see Enrique being sacked this summer mate. I was in Barcelona last week and on the sports channels they were making a big deal out of their draw to Sevilla and were questioning his relationship with the squad.
