Who sold Matic?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ancelotti I think.
Well it was when he was manager. Not sure how much say he had in Matic out and Luiz in, seeing as the powers that be binned his assistant against his wishes.
In last summer Jose made a 40M (?) profit from transfer dealings.
We're seeing a different prudent approach by Chelsea these days, helping to comply with FFP.

Good - Willian, Eto'o, Matic, Zouma, Fabregas, Costa, Remy
Bad - Atsu, Luis
OK - Schurrle, Schwarzer
Undecided - Van Ginkel, Salah, Cuadrado
Overall I'd say they've been pretty good.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure I fully agree that Eto and Remy are to be regarded as two of your good signings.
Eto was getting alot of stick last season and Remy,to be fair, possibly hasnt had enough game time.

I have a theory, based on nothing, that Chelsea stockpiled lots of young players pre FFP in order to loan them out, take in fees, and help them comply.
There is a thread on on the City board that explains FFP and it's nothing like most of us think it is. I expect City and Chelsea to spend very big this summer.
So may Liverpool.
I'd worry if Brendan had my money
Undecided on how Liverpool will do in their tranfer dealings this summer.I just cant for the life of me see them spend big.

I said this as well Robbing. Its plainly obvious what we were trying to do for the initial stages of FFP. Even the players that didnt work out or make the grade, we've made a profit on them. Whether its morally right or not is another debate.
I was pretty happy with Eto'o. Scored some big goals for us in the second half of the season. I've been very impressed with Remy too. Rightly or wrongly he's spent most of the season on the bench, but when he has had to step in for Costa due to injury or suspension, he's tended to score and generally do a good job.

Greatest bit of business was flogging Torres onto Milan.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who then flogged him back to Madrid
I mentioned a few weeks ago that selling Shurrle and signing Cuadrado could be a short term work around to improve FFP standings. Both seem of a similar level (ability wise and in terms of playing status, i.e. rotation, so nothing to weaken the squad), and both were valued roughly the same (£25m, give or take).
But Shurrle's actual FFP value was around £12m (£20m initial fee when he signed from Leverkusen), amortised. Cuadrado cost broken down was £5m for each of the 5 years of his contract. So £5m gets added to the Chelsea books, but due to the way FFP works, getting rid of Shurrle a similar fee actually works in Chelsea's favour.
If Barca can get windows shut City definitely will

This stuff bends my head. It all seems rather pointless in some ways but I guess we have already seen sanctions in some form or another.

Not sure why Remy is a poor signing Busby?
His signings haven't poor or great, there's no outright flops (Salah the closest to a flop but as OP said will probably be sold on profit and doing well on loan)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't personally feel he is a player good enough to be considered back-up for a club like Chelsea, whether he cost £10m, £40m or was free.
I don't tend to judge players on their transfer fees, more their performances and value to the squad.
Remy is a bit one dimensional but he knows where the net is. I can see why they bought him in. Be interesting to see who Chelsea buy this summer. Wouldn't surprise me to see Benzema come in. Bit leftfield but maybe even someone like RvP.
You really do have a deep interest in Chelsea

I'm no accountant, Melton is the best to ask about all things FFP. I asked him about what I've just posted and he agreed short term it is an FFP work-around. But a team would still then have to account for it in the following years, but equally so, if they did this once a season, coupled with the likelihood of increased revenue, there is not problem and it just shows FFP as a bit of a fudge.
All teams could do it I suppose. Happens with wages too. City getting someone like Dzeko or United with Nani signing a new 5 year contract even though they aren't regulars can improve FFP standing.
