if only he had the ability to back it up……
shame, but ultimately another disappointing signing.
Chronic,
Not all of football is about ability. Mental aspects and passion play a part also. It would be difficult to find a spurs fan who would prefer Ade in the squad over Lewis even though it is unquestionable that Ade is a technically superior player.
Bring him back over summer, give him a chance because the kid runs his bollox off!
Got to say Chronic if we had a few senior players with Holtby's passion on the field we would at least go down fighting. Could never fault the bloke on that aspect of his game and at least he didn't cost squillions! The likes of Paulinho would not get a look in...
agree with both of you actually.
but from what we have seen so far, he has been very disappointing.
i would give him another shot though
Holtby is a CM. Try him there or sell him.
Hardly a disappointing signing though Chronic. Cost us only 1.5m.
edin.. i meant disappointing in the sense that i was hoping for better.
but he was a value signing at that price.
btw… Hamburg are bottom of the league and going down - and their fans don't rate holtby
didnt avb give the impression he wasn't quite serious enough in training and/or was a bit of a problem about the place.....!?
I like Holtby runs his nuts off . He will never be a flair player but will work hard for the team.
Holtby is just another one of the very average players Spurs signed. Never really going to be good enough. Cannot fault his spirit, but all players say things are going to improve, and the next match you will see a difference. Very rarely happens in reality though. The modern players talk the talk, but very rarely walk the walk.
Wasn't successful with us, didn't do anything with Fulham on his loan spell, and now apparently not doing anything with Hamburg. I feel confident in writing him off as a prospect for us. Still, he seems like a good guy so I wish him well.

this is pretty much spot on.
those who rate holtby highly are misguided,
even Sherwood who loves players with heart, and poch, who loves players with workrate, didn't rate him.
and he went to Fulham and couldn't be a regular in a relegation side.
if we get 5 or 6 million for him we will have mugged off whoever.
It doesn't look good for you if you've been involved in 2 relegation scraps and the fans haven't rated you through either.
