N18.
And nearly 40 years ago, when as a kid in the late 70s walking to the Unigate depot at Hampden Lane, I stopped at Brantwood Road, and I had a dream :
That 40 yrs from now, some little black kid sweeping this very road would rise up beyond his lot to better himself as an accounts clerk.

Spurtle, not read the whole thread, but you from Shrewsbury?
Only ask cos that's where I'm from. Which part of Shrews you from?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a small world.
I'm just off of Shrewsbury, in Bayston Hill. You?

Just South of Lincoln in God's county
ok, it's a bit flat around here and we don't really do the whole bright city lights and motorways thing but you can park where you want, and I can afford to buy a decent house ............................. and there's only one G00ner in the village (We imported him from Wiltshire when the resident idiot departed)

"Really glad I went to games in the 70s-80s. changed so much now and it does not feel fun anymore"
To have been at WHL with a 50,000 gate, and the Shelf in full cry, is a cherished memory for me (would have loved to have experienced the 60-70000 crowds in the 50s/60s) .
First come first served entry at the gate is the last remnant of the "people's game" that I really have.

Lincoln
Miles from any motorway and a 5 bedroom detached will cost you about 160k
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sadly the days of a five bed house for £160k are long gone but you can stil get one for about £400k.
You're right about the road network though .............. fackin cart tracks in the main!

Just cos you cannot have a punch up now doesn`t mean you cannot have fun.

That`s why I moan a lot about the modern game. Best ever times to be a supporter of any club, were back in the 1950s/60s or earlier. Every year that passes, I am getting to loathe the game even more.

What could I buy for a million in Lincoln?
So what proportion of us live/lived within walking distance of WHL ??
