He is only young Mata, Rodgers wasn't particularly outstanding initially, but with time learnt and developed well as a coach.

Against us maybe? I was drunk watching the game and all I can really remember is being p1ssed and p1ssed off, Surely use pressed us well that game?

Most of the players are not suited, also it is difficult to play a high line when your centre backs are about as quick as a tree dwelling sloth

Lamela has his faults but along with Kane and eriksen he does press along...maybe mason aswell..

I think that was unfair criticism though. Marseille have hardly fallen off, yes they lost the last two games but that was against PSG & Bordeaux.

They have recently demolished Toulouse (6-1) and Lens (4-0).

We played a pressing game against City, which worked to an extent. And then we went down to 10 men and it all went to pot.

The point of this article though, was what did people think was the problem for our sheit pressing?

i genuinely think we don't have the legs across the team to do it.

certain members can. but others cannot.

alternatively we don't have the intelligence to execute the game plan consistently

I think that is probably the answer as well Chronic, but I remember that Nigel Atkins got Southampton playing pressing football well. I wonder if Poch inherited a good pressing side or developed one.

One things is for sure, if we don't have the legs to press, then why do we bother getting Kane and Eriksen to run about madly?

I think Poch has confused himself. Because we started winning games in the last 10 minutes this got him thinking it was down to fitness and we could exploit teams in the last 10 minutes - this was particularly evident in the Burnley game where the tactics were clearly to pass it side to side, backwards, side to side and backwards and to try and nick it in the 80+ mins of the game.

As you say, the pressing game stopped some time ago and I think Poch has kind of lost himself a bit.

It’s probably a bit late in the day to try out new systems but we need to start trying to win the game from the off - not rely on the opposition tiring out.
