Gabriel >>>> Per

To be fair he had a couple of nervous moments but did well consider being thrown in at the deep end. Even the most positive fans must accept we were really poor today and lucky to go through. The players didn't perform but they weren't given much chance with the formation that didn't work at the start of the season and still doesn't really work now.

Gabriel was quite shocking, tbf. Not at all convinced him and Koscielny is a good partnership.

Mertesacker is just awful should never play again this season.

The average Mackie was running in behind every time and better officiating could have had us trailing. Also look at his effort for the goal we conceded.... he makes me sick.

Release the in the summer

Gabriel was immense as soon as he came on it nullified the Reading's attack and the high line gave Arsenal more security and freedom to attack rather than having to play according to snail's advantage.

How was he shocking ? Won headers , made clearances and nearly scored . It won't be DJ without the hyperbole .

Gabriel recovered mistakes well though and his mobility makes such a difference. Him and Kos won't work long term you're right it's TV +KOS all over again but anyone but Merts we need a new commaning CB to partner Kos.

Merts is awful and can't even pull his finger in the semi. Free header rolling off his back aswell one of Gabriels first touches was a towering header saved.

That's what a bit of heart does, Merts can't sport the shirt again for me

Gave Reading opportunity after opportunity. Missed headers, let balls bounce over him. He was far from dominant.

Per went close with a header, good save by the keeper, while Gabriel sent a free header high, wide and ugly.
Strange to bring efforts on goal into it.

Will take Gabriel over Per in my sleep.

Should be a squad player from the bench. He should not be our 1st choice. His lack of pace is a clear handicap like we saw today.

Mertesacker has injured his ankle and Wenger says it "doesn't look good". Not ideal for Arsenal but Gabriel has looked decent when played.

looks like your prayers are answered

Their efforts was an example of desire, Per has none of it seriously makes me sick.

Doesn't help he's awful too living off last season where was only good first half of it anyway.

From Sol Campbell to this clown even Gallas had more heart at least what mistake bringing him in its not a match.

Slowest player in world football and his ability isn't worth compensating for... Kos carries him so much we will ruin the lad eventually no wonder he's had injury problems lately

Mata's left foot

Great news, don't like to wish injuries on my own players but what the heck if you don't care about the club anyway why should I care for you.

A blessing ahead of Chelsea especially if Costa makes the game

Mertesacker's appearances
2012-13. 44 apps
2013-14. 52
2014-15. 41 so far

Can't believe what I'm reading here. In a team full of crocks, Per is our most reliable player. His appearance stats would shame most first-team keepers.
He keeps himself insanely fit and always bounces back very quickly when he does have a lay-off.

Harsh on Per.

He walks all game or gets into a very light jog therefore will always be fresh.

I know he is VERY slow but now he seems to have saved himself the embarrassment and doesn't even bother once he's been overtaken, it's horrible viewing

I'd forgive the odd defensive howler for consistency in the central defensive pairing. We've chopped and changed through the years, but Per has been the one constant through good or bad patches of form.
We'll miss him when he eventually decides to call it a day.

The day he leaves will be a wonderful one, can't compensate for players who bltch all year.

Least Giroud transformed himself despite the scrutiny, that's heart! I have my concerns about him but NEVER can I hate the guy

I only hate 2 gooners

Merts - Disgusting attitude abondaned ship when we needed him most, disgraceful quotes can be plucked from him too.

Flamini - Stabbed us in the back in 08, begun a trend of players leaving on 'contractual reasons' or 'to win more tropheeeez' has done nothing since to earn forgiveness

I think you'll find it was Vieira and then Cole who began that trend.

posted on 18/4/15

Club sold Vieira. Cole was a moron but he left when his crop of team-mates started heading out at least he left something behind.

Flamini ditched us through spite the very moment he showed potential and I mean the first of a new generation which Arsene was clearly working on, he facked off before we could even see what this group was capable of.

Damaged us for ages, until Song finally became half decent

Why was Vieira sold though?

And i don't understand how what you said about Cole differs from your earlier observation.

It's an irrelevant argument anyway, what's done is done. Flamini needs to move on.

posted on 19/4/15

Flamini 'ditched us' because we didn't offer him a new contract and barely played him. We were happy for him to go, then a season later devasted when he left.
