That's why I said "or similar" , it's the intent I'm looking at....not necessarily the exact player
Definitely need another in the mould of Coq. And a deep lying playmaker, especially if Arteta is going to struggle to play/leave. Mind you, if we get a truly top class player they could do both jobs.
Arteta is going jlnowhere
its Ricardo Carvalho youve put in a bid for!

That for me would be unfortunate....after an injury ravaged year, he would also be one year older!
I haven't forgotten how utterly over run we were at times with him as our DM pivot....Borussia Dortmund away comes to mind
We got Coquelin now so its not a big deal.
We desperately need to get rid off Arteta, Flamini and Diabolical though.
im surprised some people think Arteta will stay.
The moment he was named our captain this season, i knew his time was up.
Arteta is still a useful player and providing he's no longer used as the sole DM he could be a big help to the side. Never has been a DM, never should've been
As far as deep lying midfielders go, he's still our most reliable from that position, much better than Santi there.
Notice how deep Ozil has had to come for the ball in recent months, nobody can keep our game ticking quite like Arteta, maybe Jack but he's rarely available. Our possession game is torrid without him.
I'd give Mikel 1 more year, also saves us having to name the casualty that is Mertesacker as captain
He's got age on his side and the physique to succeed in the PL but he's alwats flattered to deceive when ever I've seen him. Perhaps ive just seen him have several bad games but based on what I have seen he's one of the most overrated young players in Europe and the fees touted are ridiculous for an average player.
Yeah he's a talent but a massive risk, one that could go either way in the PL. He's quite slow too which people complain about Arteta. In fairness he's good in the tackle and strong also a good distributor of the ball.
I'd like him as a promising player but wouldn't pay £20m+ for him doubt there's anything to this anyway Arsène believes in Bielik and Coq is improving.
If we did get a DM I reckon he'll be older especially if Flamini and Diaby go, Arteta too possibly

This is Arsenal....to suggest that Coq alone is sufficient cover is madness....a 3,4,6 month lay off for injury is a distinct possibility, then what? Past it areta again?
Not sure how M'Vila is getting on, was shipped out from Russian on loan to Inter but they didn't take up the option to make it permanent. Well documented personal issues but at 24 maybe he can grow up and may come cheap.
The talent is there, many players learn to behave if they get a chance in the PL.

I think we could do with another holding midfielder but I think it should be a sort of Xabi Alonso type who can play further forward also.
