Chris wasn't old enough to have played with the old fashioned lace up balls surely, they were about in the fifties!
By the time he was a professional he would have been playing with a coated ball, albeit a tad heavier than balls now.

I'm several years younger than Chris, and I can remember heading one of the old fashioned balls when it was wet - ouch! A pain akin to eating much too cold ice cream.

If he did then, it was when he was very young, just as Tommy Robson said on TV, elbows, clash of heads and the shear amount of times he headed a ball,

One of my abiding football memories Wembley 92, and the wins over Liverpool, Newcastle and Wimbledon in the League Cup too.
