As opposed to a standard fool? A la Pacquiao?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I reckon Mayweather would knock Khan out as opposed to Pacquiao.

You have to appreciate Mayweather from a technical stand point, no matter what criticisms you have of him (and I've got plenty). It's not his game to stand and trade.

Manny's game plan was poor. He didn't use his feet like he used to and didn't take away Floyd's jab at all. He had to do that early, you could tell from round 3/4 that he was going to lose.

Amir Khan would be made to look like a glass-chinned fool against Mayweather.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Wouldn't that require Mayweather to actually try and punch someone?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would go the same way as Hatton.

Can't believe people think Khan would have a chance. At the end of the day brains will win over brawn.

I literally thought that was the point of boxing

It is My criticisms of Floyd have never had anything to do with his fighting style

By that I mean, hit and don't get hit is the point of boxing. It's not street fighting...

I'm as far as you can get from a Mayweather fan, look through the posts on this boardBut it was Manny's performance that made this fight poor, he wasn't his usual self and wasn't allowed to be...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not saying it was only mayweathers fault , Manny couldn't do anything of note out there, but Floyd's game plan is to avoid a fight and that doesn't interest me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Guessing you don't like Muhammed Ali then, as he was always about avoiding taking punches.

Even when he was doing his rope-a-dope he was avoiding most of what Foreman threw at him.

I appreciate his skill, but as a fan, if I don't think it's entertaining then what's the point.

This kind of fight hurts boxing, so many people who don't usually watch will have tuned in, doubt they'll be back.

That's fair enough, I can't argue with an opinion. I'm not a fan of Mayweather, but appreciate his skill and how effective that style of boxing is.

I honestly couldn't care about the casual/uneducated fan. The people who watch boxing week in and week out won't have been turned off by that fight.. They'll continue to support the sport, boxers will be paid and life will go on

Schooled him. As one sided a fight as you'll ever see.

As for the boring comments, it all depends on how much you appreciate watching a complete world class boxer operate.

Many MMA fights, and fighters, are boring to watch. GSP was the UFC's p4p King for God knows how long and all he did was pull people to the ground and lie on top of them for 5mins at a time

There will always be boring fights in both sports, but the % of snooze fests in boxing is far higher, 3-5 rounds with 4oz gloves that make KOs far more likely and multiple ways to win means it's not even close in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong a great boxing match is fantastic but they seem to be so few and far between nowadays, whereas MMA consistently puts on exciting fights.

Boxing fans don't like to see holding and spoiling tactics.

Apparently if you wanna see Mayweather actually throw a punch you have to marry him

You guess wrong, it's not his avoidance of punches, more his willingness to land a couple of point winning strikes instead of really trying to hurt and finish his opponents.

He's a coaster, and I dislike that in any sport.
