He pulled Vilanova's ear?
--

Haven't seen the footage properly, but I did see the replays of Vilanova slapping him round the head as he walked off.

It's a real shame that was were esentially two truly enthralling matches have been (once again) overshadowed by a total lack of sportsmanship.

At least Pep was level-headed in the press conf.

I'd like to think that Pérez's look of concern after the match had something to do with the terrible image the players and manager gave at the end of it.

Mou (and Pérez for supporting him) should definitely shoulder the main blame for the current state of affairs.

Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo and (albeit much less obviously) Carvalho are clearly far too fired up in these matches, and it's very clear that no one at the club has wanted to do anything about it to date.

Barça have obviously been drawn into it and the players have their own portion of blame in the way they overreact to the challenges put in on them, but they certainly don't seem to me to be the instigators and their attitudes don't justify Madrid's, which is what concerns me most as a Madrid fan.

Will just point out a couple of things about the 2 el classicos:

- Why did Real jumped on the ref in the first match whereas Barca haven't said a word? Was there a pk for Real? Yes. Was there a pk for Barca (Marcelo on Pedro)? Yes. And I ask you, did Khedira deserve a red because of the high tackle on Abidal?

- Villa slapping Ozil, embarrassing. Should punish him with 3 match ban.

- Pepe. If this guy is not mental I don't know who is. He should be instucionalized, seriously.

- Marcelo, what is his problem? Kicking Messi in the groin area, then trying to intentionally injure Fabregas. If they wanna do such things, they should just join the UFC.

About the match, Real was simply awesome in both matches and deserved to win the cup. They were physically superior and much more ready. Barca still needs 2-3 weeks to get in the optimal shape but even with 2 decent matches we managed to win it.

Messi take a bow!

And I thought that other than his goal and a brilliant through ball, Messi was pretty anonymous and looked several pounds overweight at the Bernabéu...horrible player, he has no right to be so good when he's so clearly lacking in game time!

BTW Dan, have you seen pekster's predictions thread? Will you be joining us this year?

Just saw it, it's really well made but I'm more of an expert on predicting matches, not league winners or pichichi's

(At 2.38 - Mourinho tried to kick Cesc's head but missed)..

Forget the El Clasico. Europa League is on tonight, massive test Bielsa and Marcelino today. Really looking forward to it!

I hope Mourinho gets a long ban, eye poking Pep's assistant, haven't seen anything like that.

Unfortunatyely I've got the feeling the Spanish FA won't have the guts to take strong measures.

Oh, and hi Doc - welcome back!!!

After last nights antics between Ozil and Villa wouldn't wanna get in a fight with either. Ozil looked very angry and his shirt had defo been ripped.

Marcello, should be relieved that he's only got a 3 game ban, for me he should count himself lucky that Cesc injuried.

Also heard a few rumours Kaka's been linked with Arsenal, any truth in that?

Also why are La Liga and lower divisions on strike this weekend?

I love it, Getafe really love to make films, first the suicidal koala and now this.

Poor performance by Sevilla, Hannover were not going to be any pushovers and they proved it. Really confident that we'll win at home, some key-players missed out on tonight's game and with them returning (and not La Liga this weekend) it should give Marcelino some more time to prepare.

not such a bad result for sevilla, i also expect them to get through.
Atleti won 2-0 and should be OK too.
But A Bilbao had 85mins playing against 10 men, and still couldnt score...they have a v trick match in turkey ...but i think they can get a score draw over there and progress !

i still expect all the spanish clubs to get through to be honest..Athletic club have the most difficult task in the 2nd leg..but i'm v confident villarreal and sevilla will turn their ties around in the home leg..and atleti look as good as through after their win tonight

Dr F: You need to change you're pichichi selection to a NON r madrid and barca player !!

Hammy, on the strike question, it's because of the appalling number of unpaid footballers - I think there are 6 1st div clubs in administration and your amount of them in Segunda and Segunda B. About 10 Segunda B clubs have been relegated due to the salaries owed and unpaid.

Atleti have also signed a bloke called Micael in the Falcao deal. TBH, I know nothing about him. Who'd have said that one day I'd miss coolinter!

Think about the Liga predos. Just checked last season's season-end table.

Sporting Gijon conceded fewer goals than any other team outside Barça & Madrid!

...and right now I can't even name their goalie!

posted on 19/8/11

Ok, I looked it up - they played two keepers last season: Corominas and Pichu. The latter conceded just 12 goals in 13 apps, which is actually a lower GC rate (0.92) than Casillas's (0.94).

To win the Zamora Trophy you have to play a minimum of 28 games.

3rd place behind Valdés & Casillas in the official trophy standings went to Dani Aranzubía...relegated!!!

Joint Pichichis outside Ronaldo & Messi were Agüero & Negredo.

That, along with the fact that L.Fabiano's out of the way, should make Negredo one of the favourites, but no one's gone for him yet.

Also, Falcao's just joined the running. When does the transfer window close?

Peks, do all the season-long predos have to be in before the first ball is kicked?
