Hmmm, not had a good season but showed promise before.
Not sure I would be too chuffed spending 3 million on him.
Players who have shown their ability cost more.
If we can see untapped potential and convert it to good performances, like Afobe, then we can bring them in cheaper.
Expectancy has now gone up, no surprise there. If you think we're in a world where we'll sign big names then you're going to be disappointed.
Jackett doesn't spend big money, rarely has in his career because he knows what it puts pressure on him from the fans.
From the comments on that article, the Cardiff fans don't appear to be too happy about him potentially leaving.
I think one option with Sako leaving would be to bring in a good skilful striker and play a front three with Dicko and Mason in this case interchanging as the wide men with Afobe down the middle.
Not for me Tam
Dicko scores more on the shoulder of the last defender. We need to stop playing him wide on a front three because he can do a 'decent' job there.
Sake never played as a left forward either. It wasn't his game. He always preferred to pick the ball up deep and run forwards.
Dicko and Afobe have earned the right to both play as forwards. Let them fight it out for top goalscorer and lets get a quality left winger with pace, trickery and a good end product.
You could get Matt Jarvis back from West Ham for £8m. That still represents a profit of £2m.
I think there is a good chance that we will move away from two wide players next season and play a narrower game. That would mean probably playing 433 or 4231
19 goals in 55 appearances is not a bad return.
Don't know anything about him, but fits the lean and hungry mould, I guess!
I think what tam suggests is likely how we will move forward, I don't think 4-4-2 is Kenny's long term aim.
never heard of him, is he a winger, strirer or no. 10 ?
Not sure? Striker I think more so, but this season hasn't been good but last season he had a good one I think.
a reasonable scoring rate but only played 30 games in the last two years? not sure why Cardiff fans would be that upset to see him go as he's only played for them twice since 2013.
I don't think £3m will be anywhere near the right figure - this is someone who has been sent off on short term loans for most of the last two years (to a club that can't afford to try and buy him) and is apparently unwanted by his own club. £1m plus a lot of increments on games played/goals scored/promotion etc., would be as much as I'd expect to spend.
It would be an interesting exercise to see how many of these "rumours" actually amount to a signing. Less than 10%, I would guess. Where's Tara when you need him!
Keeps life interesting during the closed-season, I spose.
agree cyp,
we'll be linked to 20 or 30 players in the next few weeks. I think we will sign 4 or 5 before next year but at least a couple will be players we've never heard of or where there's been no rumour before the deal is done. a couple of 'prospects' and three senior players to strengthen the squad.
Wallace will be the first through the door.
sooner spend £2 to £3 mill on pritchard
I'd rather Emmanual-Thomas on a free.
Versatile as a striker or forward, pacey and tall. Played with Afobe before.
The first of many 'rumours' no doubt in the coming weeks. I'd be very surprised if we splashed that amount on this player.
Somebody needs to replace Afobe.
For the benefit of those that don't watch us play, when we played 433 at times at the end of the season it was Afobe that played wide, not Dicko
My eyes don't deceive me DJ.
I see the positions they take up. Whether it's on Jacketts tactics board or not, Dicko's doing the most running wide in the channels.
Would rather have dicko wide than Afobe to be honest, will be interesting to see how kenny goes about it with those two next season.
Neither of them are wide players.
Why are people insisting they play there?
I'll tell you why... Because it isn't trendy to play 4-4-2 anymore.
Well, it's the reason we played so well and turned our season around and with good wide men it's a championship recipe for success.
Josh Ginnely from shrewsbury will be the first signing,
We will play 4-4-2 next season, that is basically the system we have played since January, I think Mr Jackett has learned we need to score more goals, I can see it changing from time to time but 4-4-2 will be the preferred system.
