I agree Ace I would happily move Walker on. I would be willing to keep him as back up but no way he should be our main right back next season. Incredibly average and over rated player.

Don't quite understand your logic buddy.

Yes, Trippier was part of a team that got relegated but can one player prevent a team form going down especially a RB????

He along with Ings was Burnleys stand out player and looked very accomplished in the premier league.

Corluka had a better football brain than Walker but Walker just fits the 'new age' full back, with his pace and getting up and down the flank.

If this Trippier rumour is true, it does make a bit of a mockery of the Yedlin signing - and you have to feel a bit sorry for the guy.

This is the danger of buying players on the back of a couple of good performances in an international competition.

does it?

yedlin is young, cheap, probably low wages, and very marketable.

low risk, high potential reward signing.

Strange how plenty of people like to slag Walker, yet our results are so much better when he is in the team. Sure Walker has bad moments but overall he is a good FB.

Walker needs some proper competition for his place, it should give him the kick up the backside he needs, there is a quality player in there still.

Corluka was too slow for the PL and the Yedlin signing is probably nothing more than a marketing ploy.

Sorry billy but walker and " quality" shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath. He has never been quality but had a excellent expectional season that time and has never kicked on since. He makes far to many mistakes which gift wrap the opposition. Prime example being that Liverpool one at anfield in bales last season where he completely lost the game for us. Walker is just not good enough mate.

I don't think Yedlin, Fredericks or WP are going to be much use to us. I quite like Trippier, I think he is probably on a par with Rose who has got significantly better under Pochettino this season. I think Tripper would be a good addition to our team and I think Walker can go, hardly going to be massively missed.

corluka wasn't too slow for the prem at all. that is a lazy excuse.

its like saying VDV was too slow for the prem… he clearly wasn't, because there is far more that makes you a quality footballer than pace

The same flack was being thrown at Rose before this season, now he is probably our most improved player and way better than the awful Davies according to many on here.

Walker is an international FB, has been first choice for the last few managers and fits Poch`s system, a couple of bad games does not make him a bad player, injuries have also held him up of late.

It is highly unlikely we will be signing anybody better, it could be a lot worse, we could still have Alan Hutton.

I've barely watched any of Burnley this season and haven't really kept an eye on Trippier so I've got no idea as to if he's any good. I'd keep Walker and look to sign an experienced RB if possible.

As for the 'overhaul', whilst we all agree that anything between 7-12 can go (depending on who's opinion you take), I think a mass overhaul would be suicide!!!!

The key for me is to shift the absolute deadwood and disruptive influences (if stories are true):

Adebayor
Kaboul
Capoue
Chiriches
Lennon

The likes of Soldado and Townsend need selling, but I wouldn't say it's absolutely urgent we get rid of them.

Read we've turned down the chance to sign Rafael from United, would of been a good signing

I agree Billy...proper competition for his place should see Walker focus more....and that is his problem, he switches off, he takes positional risks and makes careless mistakes. That's a result of complacency IMO.

Proper competition, full pre season when hopefully all our defence will be being rigorously drilled and see if he raises his game. Make or break season for him!

Rafael isn't any better than Walker. He can be quite rash in his decision-making at times and concentration isn't all that.

I disagree. I think a player can be too slow. In fact, I would say a high majority of players either retire or drop down in standard because they lose a yard (of pace). Corluka did have good positional sense but he just couldn’t make up any ground if the opposing player got beyond him. He was a very calming player, even when he played CB, but I can see why we went for a ‘current era’ fullback than stick with an ‘old fashioned’ one.

For example, until recently I always preferred to play 2 up front, but sometimes you just have to move with the times and face the fact that football changes.

This, although there are the odd exceptional circumstances. I'd have taken Ravanelli and Juninho from Boro in 1997, as well as Kewell from Leeds in 2004.
