i must say peg dog i actually agree whole heartedly with you. the players you mentioned and described is down to a tee! bristol city are one of the worse sides ive seen at KM but we were just as bad, there was no atmosphere is was very flat and it showed in the 7,900 attendance
I will add a very jeckyll and hyde performance from us in the space of 5 days, tuesday was brilliant!
Hopefully we can now disassociate ourselves from the "Arsenal of the Championship" tag. The only thing we have in common now is trying to play with one up front. David Pleat summed it up when he said today that playing with one up and the midfield coming behind, if you don't hit the first man then there is no one else to get the ball. Can we please try now to emulate United as the Arenal tag has come full circle. We could both find ourselves relegated at the end of the season.
First of all, we got our first point for duck's sake. I know Bridtol were rubbish but we get a point and all I hear is "the 'keeper is rubbish". "we didn't play well". For gods sake it's going to be a hard season! Even my "rose-tinted" specs say that. Well done Rovers...we're off zero
Secondly and more importantly at the mo. Just watched the Manic Street Preachers at the Winterthur Musikfest waiting for Simple Minds. Excellent or what!
Well said Fuzzy. Woods scared the bejayzus out of me early on when he came out to incercept the long ball then changed his mind - but he is young and will make mistakes here and there. I wasn't sure in the first half whether the same players who did so well against Leeds were just tired or whether City had "worked us out". The second half suggested that it wasn't the latter and we battered them. I still think we need a miracle to stay up but this was encouraging.
Woods might be young and make mistakes. If you want to stay in the Championship you cannot afford that luxury. Its his basic goakeeping that is in question at the moment and something that must be addressed. To say that some players were tired is a nieve excuse Bristol also played in the cup competition.
i dont see what the alternative to woods is, i personally think with time he can only get better which is more than can be said for sulivan, and as for the back four having no confidence in him that's just pure rubbish, if they didnt have confidence in him they wouldn't be passing it back to him as much as they are doing.
i was unable to go to the leeds game on Tuesday but was at the game on Saturday and in my opinion from the minute we were awarded the peno we looked a different team, the passing was sharp, and we attacked well and looked like we were really going to go for the winner.
I have said on many occasions now that SOD is the right man for the job even if we do get relegated i still think he would be the man to get us straight back up, so for all off you SOD hatters out their who think its time for a change just think and i mean really think and try and come up with another manager who could have done any better than SOD with the players he's had available and the funds available to him.
As for the attendances i think regardless of how well we are playing we are not going to bring in big crowds whilst the ticket prices are so high FACT.
On a positive note its nice to see O'connor playing again he looked really sharp when he came on and might be what we need to sure up the leaky defense
one more question does anyone know why Brown and Cops were not in the squad for Saturdays game.
Both injured, Brown had a swollen knee and Coppinger a calf tear.
