Hmmm, so early reviews saying Iron Fist is a waste of time

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/iron-fist-season-1-episode-netflix-review-finn-jones-danny-rand-a7618121.html

Shame really, I was looking forward to this one. They didn't like Luke Cage either which i didn't mind though

Watched Logan today and I have to say, I was blown away.

This isn't your usual X-men movie as it focuses predominately on wolverine. Unlike the other Wolverine movies however, this one portrays him from an almost human aspect. This isn't the prime wolverine, this is an old weathered man who has seen and experiencing immense suffering. I won't reveal an spoilers but the chemistry between Jackman and Stewart is deeply emotive. X-23 plays her part and the story shows a side to wolverine that we've never seen and a side we never thought he had. The action scenes are stunning and so is some of the scenery especially in the last third. As an X men fan and a HUGE wolverine fan, there were scenes that actually left speechless and emotional. The final scene might be one of the best in the marvel franchise and it was a fitting way to end Jackman's tenure as an iconic character and this movie solidifies his position as a marvel universe legend.

9/10

Agreed. I'll post my thoughts on this after more time has past. Will likely include spoilers.

There's not much that wasn't absolutely perfect. 2nd viewing hit me harder as well. Not only do I never see anyone ever topping Jackman as Wolverine but I never seeing a comic based marvel film ever topping Logan. Pitch/tone was perfect throughout.

Guys if you want to include spoilers then you're allowed to as long as you write *SPOILERS* (preferably in capitals) at the very beginning of any post that includes any spoilers.

Live by Night wasn't great although not as terrible as some of the reviews suggest. Wouldn't recommend it though unless you're bored or love Great Depression era movies.

Yeah Straight Outta Compton was pretty awesome.

Logan was brilliant, didn't cry at the end guv but felt a bit empty if that makes sense.

Watched Moonlight a couple of days ago too, dunno if being an Oscar winner made me nervous I'd expect too much and be left short, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Liked La La land watched Kings of Summer too, very good film.

& To end - watch Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Dunno if it's cos i was in NZ at the time of watching but its a brilliant film

50pence was a bit later Sheriff

I'm looking forward to the Tupac movie with the same actor that played him so well in Straight Outta Compton. If they're still making it.

Ridley Scott's been talking about a Gladiator sequel and supposedly has a way of bringing back Maximus:

Sounds fairly terrible. Loved Gladiator but this sequel idea sounds bizarre. Doubt it'll ever get off the ground.

Gladiator is one of those movies that will never need a sequel.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Discounting films that were always meant to be a series, like Star Wars - I can't think of many sequels that were 'meant to be'. Maybe The Godfather, but then some would argue that was always meant to be a series.

Sequels are always trotted out as a money making exercise, aren't they? With little concern for the 'art' of the original film - it's why you very rarely see the same production team on a sequel, always the 'B-team' (or oftern nearer the 'Z-team'

While you may be able to make a short list of decent sequels, I'll wager the list of crap is much, much longer.

With this all in mind, I can only assume Ridley Scott is down to his last couple of million and eyeing the divorce courts again. Well, that or this Gladiator rumour is just a follow-up to the Bladerunner sequel rumour - also a film absolutely no-one asked for or expected.

Yeah remember hearing years back that Nick Cave wrote a slightly bizarre sequel and that Russell Crowe told him the script was shlt. Can't see anything changing if that's the version Ridley Scott was referring to.
