Been watching “This is is”, something to watch with the mrs.

It’s dead soft but I’m enjoying it.

I’m actually starting to prefer Amazons content to Netflix’s.....feels like Netflix are taking the approach of throwing enough crap at a wall then hoping some sticks.

Correct.

Also feels as if there's a bit more direction and control in what they put out. Netflix may actually be giving these directors and writers TOO much freedom. Never thought I'd be saying that tbh.

That’s because as someone who’s used to us TV you get 15 mins of ad, and 5 mins of programme you probably can’t tell which is which

I was just kidding, but yeah having costed the states and watched tv there a few times, the ad breaks are wasaaaau to frequent. It’s funny to watch programmes made or designed for the us market in streaming as you can see where they’ve catered for ads, especially in documentaries. They’ll start make a good deal of progress then suddenly after15 mins make a detailed recap of things they’d just outlined in far more detail. Basically the re-intro after the ad break.

Wastes like 25-30% of content. Even in the uk we don’t tend to do that, normally just continue right after the ad break, the continuity is way better.

I don’t blame you for going streaming!

Yeah. The main TV service is awful. It's going extinct as soon as the elderly call it a day. They're keeping it alive.

Same way over here, Netflix etc kicking everyone’s ass and don’t have the regulations the broadcasters here do. That said for news I’d still take the likes of the BBC, c4 over any broadcaster. I don’t think you have similar over there where they aren’t owned by someone with vested interests (Ie fox-utter shambles of a news outlet). So they have to strive to be impartial, not always successfully but rely on fact checking and heavy regulation (I doubt the likes of fox even has a department for that). So they still have a place, and both still make great quality programmes, but are like everyone else being outspent by the big online giants.. it’s hard to fight that.

Fox kinda does. I think it's the opposite though. They make sure the facts are twisted and spun until they benefit their angle so they no longer are actually facts. No fact untouched.

I don’t even think they bother with facts. They just take sound bites, and try and make them facts. I think they actually had a channel here for a few months, not even lunatics watched it because it was so obviously lies Got folded sharpish..

Honestly some of the nuts stuff that happens over in the states is probably caused by channels like that peddling mostly lies dressed as news, or at minimum putting a heavy slant on things, you guys really need a proper regulation service that actually checks things and takes them into account when they blatantly lie.,when it comes to news, it should never be used to further an agenda of the owner.,that can never end well.

That said, even with that, they’d just put the ‘true’ news on for a few mins then dress the ‘discussion’ propaganda up as panelist’s and opinions under the ‘entertainment’ bracket. (Kind of what they do already)

I think CNN is as bad as Fox now. Or as bad as Fox used to be and Fox has got even worse. Broadcast news in America is woeful.

Non regulated with an agenda. CNN isn’t anywhere near as bad as fox bu mr I do agree.,
