Its pretty great. But at the same time, not one i go back to or have an urge to watch ever.

Female-led LOTR where Frieda Baggins walks all the way to mordor by herself and casts the ring into the fire then strolls off into the sunset

I do hope if they remake it they do it super-woke

Probably side stories based on fringe characters.

They should leave the franchise alone but these studios just want to milk these big IPs instead of creating their own unique stories.

There is pkenty of scope 2 tell stories of uthers doing heroic stuff apart from Frodo n the gang

Missed yesterday's the.e. so.e good recs there. As a Jarmusch fan, I ha e to throw in Dead Man in too.

There WillBe Blood was impressive in the cinema, a particular scene really stuck with me - when he's staking out the land, huge wide open spaces, which the soundtrack and cinematography manage to make incredibly oppressive - genius true work of art moment. Don't think you could ever get that feel watching at home though, and never felt the urge to rewatch it. I might when it's on re-release in 29 years' time - if I'm still alive.

A lot of people panned the Coen's True Grit remake, but I loved it.

Liberty Valance, yep, the Eastwood ones too, the one about the something train to Gun Hill ...

Godless was a pleasant surprise... but how about Kung Fu ... never had the chance to rewatch any, but that was a proper childhood staple that was!

Some oldie Westerns I watched so long ago and so young that I'd need to watch them again before recommending. I suppose a load of them will have aged really badly.

And Nick Cage as Gandalf, yes please. Ricky Gervais as Frodo.

Train to Gun Hill… never heard of it.
Will check it out

Is there any other stories aside Lotr, hobbit and the other one that begins with an S?

Has anyone seen the extended editions of each of the LOTR movies ? Think they're about four hours long each. Been meaning to try and get hold of them for years

It takes the trilogy up levels of greatness.
Amazing. You just don’t want them to end.

Fellowship is still my favourite of the lot.
By my word, the Extended versions . 10/10 masterpieces.

They'll probably make a Tom Bombadil spinoff trilogy or something like that.

Sounds like a fantasy version of Twins with Arnie and Danny DeVito?

If they are going to move forward with a movie and Jackson is returning, they should just scrap season 2 of Rings of power and make that a movie trilogy.

I can't actually voucher the Gun Hill one, stri Germany...just a blast from the past...watched so many Westerns as a kid, and so many repeats, that the memories overlap. I might have been conflating the film title with a train station scene from so.e other film.
