Couldn't agree more. no egos, no big I ams and no people thinking they have a divine right to be in the team. Hope they powers that be take the same approach with the test team.
Just hope when the next tournament comes along they stick to their guns and don't get tempted to bring any of the old guard back
Spot on Shropshire. The game has evolved and teams need to evolve with it.
England have embraced youth which brings a "no fear" and "never give up" attitude to the team. This is the first time where i can say that i'm really proud of the limited overs team and if we were to lose the final game, i would still have a big smile on my face.
Hopefully this is the start of a transformed England team where we can compete and be respected in this format. We will have days where it doesn't come off but that is all part of it.
Long may this continue
England's approach has been nothing short of sensational and it's been a great watch. Will be interesting to see how the odi series vs Aussies goes. Also, interesting to see how England get on away from home in odi (UAE, India and Lanka), haven't had a great time against spin!
Couldn't agree more Afridi - England still have so much to do and the real test will be away from home.
The Aussies will really test us with their bowling attack but hopefully we go in full of confidence and with a winning mentality which is where England fall short in so many sports.
Really looking forward to tomorrow, hopefully all nations are really enjoying this serious as it has been immense so far
I was at the Edgbaston game, when Roy was out for a duck the place had a "here we go" feel to it.
Good to see we have finally gone down the route everybody else did 5 years ago look to play the ball whenever possible.
In Root we have one of the best batsmen in the world imo.
Is anyone actually going to care about the ODI series post Ashes?
perhaps not but it's important that we're winning games and playing a good style of cricket in preparation for the Ashes.
How many of these lads are actually going to end up in the Ashes squad?
Simple answer to the last question. Root, stokes, butler, wood, plunkett and finn.
Could morgan get his test place back at some stage? If ballance or bells bad form continues you could bring hales in at 3 root to 4 and morgan 5.
It only looks as if four will start the first test. Still, very well played by England.
I actually switched off when the fourth wicket fell and was hugely pleasantly surprised when I found out the result later on.
My first thoughts were along the lines of...typical England, start looking for their best ODI team AFTER the competition!
Being more optimistic, is this a new beginning for England? While the test team haven't been too successful at least they are beginning to show an aggressive batting attitude. Opposition bowlers might have to think that the next one might be banged straight back over their head!
For future odis bairstow can come in for billings. Bairstow looks a completely different batsman to the last time i saw him. The future is looking a lot brighter that's for sure.
the future looks ginger......

I'd rather bring Rashid in for Balance and move everyone from 4 down to 8 up a spot in the order.
A big thumbs up to the Kiwis, some fantastic cricketers, great captain and they are all such great sports. This is by far the best series i've watched in a long time.
