Yeah I'm happy that nobody wants Pearson and I'm happy that clubs want our players but our players want our club, also a refreshing change 😊

Reading Bruno Berner's interview in the Mercury and seeing players like Ulloa, Kasper state they are happy at the club just shows how well run our club is.

Pearson has a way of making players feel wanted and you shouldn't underestimate that. He keeps players motivated even when they are not first choice - big skill.

Also, I think the stability and professional approach our owners have brought to the club is something the players see and appreciate. They know yey will be looked after here.

I'm almost having to pinch myself with how well things are going at the minute.

We have a hugely talented manager, and fantastic owners. It's mint.

There's an interesting extension to this, in that there's rarely any clamour for any British manager at the top level. If your team's facing relegation, granted that someone like Pulis or Allardyce look like good ideas. But if a club like Tottenham - with ultimately on Champion's League qualification - wanted a new manager, how many British managers would they chase? They wouldn't come in for Pearson, nor Pulis, Allardyce, Pardew, Sherwood or Garry Monk. The only one I can think who might be on the radar would be Eddie Howe, but it's probably much too early for him as well.

So ignoring any debate over Pearson's qualities for a moment and looking at the bigger picture: Why so we not have at least 2 or 3 top managers at the top of our game, fighting for Champion's League qualification or more? Are we so tactically naïve to be unable to cope at the top level? I struggle with concept that there simply aren't enough opportunities, because I think if a prospective manager was good enough then he'd shine through regardless.

And think of this another way: Let's say Roy Hodgson decided tomorrow that he was bored with the job and resigned. It's almost unthinkable that an English manger is in a position to replace him, and that's a massive indictment upon our game.

I'd give Eddie Howe te England job an 10 years to turn around our game.

We're awful.

That's a good point Dunge. I think the problem might be that technically our football during the 80's and 90's, was poor in comparison to countries on the continent. We didn't play good football, it was just fast paced, battling and often long ball, there was never much in the way of flair.

Now the game has changed, still fast paced but now better technically and the English managers around these days are used to the tactics they used to play and it doesn't work anymore.

So my conclusion is that no we're not as tactically aware but I believe in the future we could be.

I could imagine Gerrard becoming a good manager, he's a strong character, knows the game very well and commands a lot of respect from his team mates and other players. I cant really think of anyone else that's recently retired or about to. Can't imagine Lampard or Terry as a managers for example.
