£4mil I'll drive him to Newcastle myself
£4m Pffft
£8.5 million done deal. Not a penny less.
Talk about disloyalty. Mr Happy shows even less loyalty to recent players and Head Coach as I would expect from a black rat on a sinking ship.
Wassa, sounds like you're taking Keogh to Newcastle.
ThriceRam - big difference between disloyalty and stupidity. I might be the former but you are the latter. mclaren is the reason we are not in the top flight now with the Newcastle shinanigans. Keogh is a nice bloke but not good enough
I do not believe this. Without being disrespectful to Keogh, who I don't think is as bad as some folk say, he wouldn't fetch 4 million.

Steve McClaren is considering a bid for the £4m-rated Derby County centre-half Richard Keogh. The Newcastle United manager would face competition from West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland for the 28-year-old Republic of Ireland international.
Derby, McClaren’s former club, have made a move to sign the Burnley central defender Jason Shackell and if they were able to get him, they might allow Keogh to leave at the right price.
As if two other teams are in for him as well!
I think it's unlikely, but might be what's needed with opinion divided on our Captains strengths/sliding abilities.
Would have liked to see Keogh play without the burden of Captain.

Keogh was our best defender last season. Played really well until the Chelsea league cup game.
Mr Happy.
Well, it's now acknowledged by you that you are disloyal. Which was my point. Loyalty is a two-way street. As to my being stupid, you may be right. I'm sure I have been stupid many times in my long life.
But on the whole I have plenty of evidence that a lot of people in authority have thought me not to be stupid, In fact they have thought I was quite smart, But the issue was NOT me being stupid or smart. It was about McL's loyalty - and possibly Keogh's. And the critic Mr Happy showed no loyalty himself.
I think both McL and Keogh gave largely great service to DCFC. They, being human, made mistakes but that is no reason now to turn our anger on them. If the rumours of widespread PL interest are true, it shows some folk are more appreciative of Keogh's abilities than many Derby fans. I think he lacked something in leadership skills but had plenty going for him in ability and application.
Thrice - putting aside any personal attacks on each other, the main point of my argument was that, in my humble opinion, we need to get in better defenders (which we've started to do) and to replace what we had last season. Hence the thought of selling Keogh to the Geordies for £4m appealed. As for mclaren, again in my humble opinion, he let himself and Derby down with his conduct (or is that pure speculation?). The result is that he's now got his dream job at Newcastle whereas we are still in the championship - tell me, why should I have any loyalty to him?
Sorry to disappoint but according to Owen Bradleys Twitter feed the Geordies aren't interested

England U21 look like they could do with Keogh right now.
2W why the hell has he dropped Will Hughes again? Unbelievable
Hughes was poor against Sweden and not great against Portugal, seems strange not to start with Hughes or Carroll though.
Hughes has had a painful groin all season Rob Dorset put on his twitter feed
This story has to be the biggest joke since the one when we were supposed to be signing Michael Owen.
Keogh has a heart and a drive, but he is not a good player or a natural footballer.
I would be astounded if Keogh made any level higher than the Championship. I do not include international caps, because Keogh is about as Irish as Tom Jones
Aj he sometimes plays like Tom jones
I would be surprised to see him in the Premiership because of his lack of composure on the ball but I think he is a very good defender in terms of the basics of the job, which is why his fellow professionals rated him so highly last season. I think he carried the can for mistakes of those around him, the hilarious jibes about his sliding attempt to block the Reading goal a typical example. Whose mistakes led to that goal? Not Keogh's but it's convenient to lay it at his door.
Were he to partner Shackell I think we might see an effective pairing at this level but Keogh isn't going to take being demoted as captain and he might be behind Pearce in the pecking order anyway. Probably best all round if he finds a new club and we get a reasonable return - anything in excess of what we paid I would have thought OK. I would thank him and wish him well.
