Battersea 0-0 Basingstoke
- ; -

MOTM - Coquelin - TBag set up with very little natural width, which encouraged Haak's FBs to get up in support of their wing partner. It was only Coquelin's tireless shuttling performance which ensured TBag's FBs (good though they are) weren't overwhelmed.

Review -

I could see this being a very good game, or, a dull one where each overran the other. This is because I really like the defensive tactics of both sides - TBag's were simple and too the point, did exactly what was needed with little flourish. Haak's were slightly more detailed, and again hit the key points. Both are definitely worth a look at

In general, Haak's team really had control of the game, but perhaps not to the degree they would normally expect - TBag's 'narrow four' sort of system really put a lot of pressure and bodies into the middle area which limited what the likes of Iniesta and Vidal could do - Probably the best approach against Battersea.

Up top, Alcacer was good, but his runs past Zouma were invariably swept up well by Laporte. As discussed above, the wings, which could've been so important, simply fizzled out due to Coquelin. For TBag, Milik had little to do in all honesty, and Shaqiri alone was unable to really exploit the space left when one of Haak's FBs did venture forward.

I think if Haak had been a bit more adventurous this game and had both FBs getting forward at once then we might've seen something a little different, but it would've been risky because TBag's got some decent wingers as far as I recall.

Probably not the result anyone wanted, but so it stands! Another fecking draw

Yellows: Battersea - Vidal, Otamendi, Cartabia, Teixeira; Basingstoke - Clasie, Bellerin, Gundogan, Carvajal

I'm happy with that. With a few first teamers out I didn't think I could go to Battersea and go toe to toe with them so set up in a way I've never done before to try and stifle them and nick a winner

I need a draw between you two or I won't catch Ludy even if I beat you... then again the chasing pack could still catch up

FC Pride 0 - 1 Fishguard
- ; Vietto (-)

MOTM - Pedro - Absolutely terrorised the Fishguard goal guards today, was unlucky not to have several assists to his name after some really wasteful play from Dybala and PEA.

Review -

Another game to go against the fruity grain! Welshy fielded a very, very young side, and up against the experience and skill that Pride laid out, I thought this could be sewn up early on.

Pedro constantly caused problems from his wide position, but despite supplying Dybala in the centre, and PEA arriving from out wide himself, they simply fluffed their lines time after time.

The goal came against the run of play, then, when Vietto was dragged down by Mascherano after just getting the better of him in the race for a through ball. It was cynical from Javier, but the referee refused to draw out the red card.

Vietto stepped up to take it himself, and despite Enyeama saving the first attempt, a stooping header from the rebound was enough to edge Fishguard ahead.

FC Pride really went for it after this, but Fishguard clung on... just... Pedro rattled the bar in the last few minutes. But Welshy's side take three points back to welshland, a really key victory?

Both keepers were booked post-match after failing to shake hands properly. One offered his left, the other his right. The ref didn't like this. Yellows all-round!

Yellows - FC Pride: Dybala, Aanholt, Enyeama; Fishguard: Sisto, Cristante,

------------------------Essien------------------Ramsey------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deulofeu------------------------------------------------------------------Tello
--------------------------------------Totti-----------------------------------
---------------------------------------Pelle-----------------------------

Subs - Blackett, Tielemans, Jorginho, Mayuka, Chicharito

Tough debut for Nadz here away at MLP...he's tried to put his stamp on things after Di went on gardening leave... Not sure I'd trust Essien any longer to be honest, but it's a building process and I appreciate that....
Park seems to have lifted Welshy's 3 man defence and midfield diamond combo perfectly

I think he's taken a massive risk by having no defensive width and with Deulofeu and Tello given a free reign and Pelle as a target to aim at I can see him getting punished.....

That said 3/4's of his front four are top drawer

Slots:
Park - 6+1 home adv
Nadz - 4
Draw - 6

Full time: MLP 2-2 Tenby
Goals: Muller (Isco) Draxler (Rakitic) Pelle (Totti) Totti (Tello)

's
Park - Wanyama, Durm, Rugani
Nadz - Pelle, Ramsey, Astori

MOTM - Totti - The emperor rolled back the years as the #10...linked the play well, got an assist and a goal, what else can you ask of the man

Shaktar vs Mandems

--------------Weidenfeller
Aurier - De Vrij - Vermaelen - Davies
----------------De Rossi
-----------Gaudino - Y.Toure
Florenzi-------------------------Perisic
------------------Costa

Subs: Frey, Bagnack, Samper, Januzaj, Munir

vs

Guiata
Clyne Smalling Alderweireld Bertrand
Xhaka Schweinsteiger
Insigne Eriksen Silva
Suarez

BENCH
Lee
Dante
Aranguiz
Fellaini
Austin

A match billed as the V2 derby....some huge names on display today and some really good scrabble scores

I really like Treb's front four and I think they'd damage any-side even though for me Eriksen is too much of a passenger, Silva and Insigne I really like and it's nice to see "wingers" with a bit of craft and not blatant pace... all that said and done I just don't see a way through Marky's spine for Trebs, even with Gaudino untested although well thought of, Yaya and De Rossi would close the middle down, ad Schweiny and Xhaka aren't the most defensive.....
Alder would I can see be able to deal with Costa but he's the type of striker that only needs one chance, and the thought of a covering Smalling fills me with dread...anyway

Final Score: Senselss 0-1 Mandems
Goal - Suarez (insigne)
Yellows -
Senseless - De Rossi, Perisic, Aurier
Mandems - Bertrand,Suarez,Dante,Austin

MOTM - Suarez - Match winning goal as he again drags his team kicking and screaming

Slots:

Marky 6+1 home adv
Trebs 4
Draw 5

Ps - The fruity was a bástard as is the randomiser, but hey-ho Trebs got an undeserved win, wonder if he'll complain

Gosport 1 - 0 Southend
Zaza (Illarramendi); -

MOTM - Pjanic - Absolutely dominated today, controlled the game, played in all comers and really should've been on the winning side today.

Review -

Maybe we should look to do three spins... Another one goes against the results-doer, although this time it was simply down to home advantage, so perhaps there was little Hero could've done?

That trio in midfield that Hero has is a lovely combination - even if it does include Horrenderson - Full of energy, combatitiveness, and no lack of talent. It really gave them the edge in this match, with Pjanic being the beautiful pivot from which all the good stuff centred.

Chamberlain and Calhanglu also had good games - although whether that was down to them, or the presence of Bony in the middle is debatable. Anyway, cross after cross game in from the right, and Bony isolated Gentilli which gave him the advantage for every aerial ball. When it came down the left, some good shimmying and physical nudging opened up space for Calhanglu to play into. On another day this team could easily get two or three without the striker even scoring.

Rex's side weren't beyond the game however, and did have their own chances. Luckily for our Brummie plum, they took one of them. A floated ball from Illarramendi caused panic in Southend's back line, and a missed header from Terry bounced off his chest to Zaza who walloped it home - No finesse required.

In terms of defence, I'm not a huge fan of Terry, as I've said, but the physicality of Zaza is probably the type of striker he'd do best against these days... So I'll let you off here

Yellows: Gosport - Abdennour, Gentilli, Zaza; Southend - Strootman, Bony, Can, Vidal

Slots: Rex 4+1, Hero 6, Draws 3

The fruity is awful (or at least awfully used with only one spin (yes I did vote on 3 spins but was outvoted)), so many unjust results kinda makes this league hard to take seriously.

Fiorentina 2 - 0 Taiwan
Ibrahimovic (Firmino), Firmino (Yedlin); -

MOTM - Firmino - A fantastic debut for this player, an assist and a goal made him the star of a very good team, set up in a very good system.

Review -

I really like what Tino's done with that team. The players all fit very well - Even if some of them are a little green, Yedlin for example, I feel that the experience and skill across the pitch is more than capable of making up for that, allowing his youthful talents to flourish.

Ludy has a very rigid structure, which should really be a good thing. But unfortunately I'm not entirely sure he's taken criticism on board, and has again played Alonso alongside Coleman, with Fabregas ahead of him this time. Previously I've said that I think Matic and Alonso should swap, because at this point, Taiwan are defensively weighted to their left wing. Moving Matic and Tevez over one slot to the rihgt would give a better defensive platform for Coleman to show his own ability from

The goals came, largely, from how well Tino's side had been set out. With two very energetic and fast WBs, they could expect to have four men just behind Ibrahimovic when they attacked, and five men back when they needed to defend. As it was, Taiwan's three man defence was spread too thin, so Firmino was able to slip Ibra through very early on.

The second came when Alaba was beaten by Yedlin in a race for the ball, Yedlin whipped in a cross which Bonucci played out. However, Firmino was first to it, and a dipping volley put the game, and maybe the title (?), out of Ludy's reach...

Yellows - Fiorentina: Firmino, Saul; Taiwan: Higuain, Tevez, Alaba

Slots: Tino 6+1, Ludy 4, Draws 3
