How generous is that?

I think someone like Neil Lennon would suit our current crop of players

Tommy you're basing Swansea as being more attractive purely on the basis of them being established. They're a small club and don't have the financial clout to become a top club.

Now we're all PL clubs and all on a level playing field. West Ham have money and so do we and I don't think they have no more chance of success than we do.
Their aim is top 8 and we're aiming top 10 so I'd say we'll be competing next season.

By the following season we'll have the 8th biggest ground in the country. That makes us more attractive than a lot of clubs, we won't be in the mid-sized club bracket anymore.

I'm optimistic because I can see what the owners are doing. They're not settling for mid-table and have highlighted that by showing their ambition in the transfer market and also by not appointing an inexperienced manager. My faith isn't blind. You just need to get out of the mentality that "we're Leicester City and it's not possible" because it absolutely is and it will happen. If we get this next appointment right.

I've had this kind of debate before with John Gee, but it's not lacking ambition to accept where we are right now. Reaching for the stars is fine, but generally you need to build a ladder to get to them.

Forget the Mancs

Why? LVG isn't going to be at United for long and Pelligrini is under huge pressure, Klopp could easily get either of those jobs

Arro

Again I applaud your optimism but in no shape or form am I thinking "we are leicester city and it won't happen".

After seeing the best player to ever wear our shirt - Laurie Cunningham - grace our shirt then anything is possible but realism as to where we are right now as a club is vital or there is potential we may shoot ourselves in the foot again.
Our owners are fantastic and are doing great things for our club, and yes they have quickly built an affinity with the club, community, supporters etc. but owners come and go. So if they are here for the next 5 years and we establish ourselves at the top table in that time then I will agree with your comments about the esteem out club is held in and how attractive it is to big name players/managers etc.
But IMO at the moment we are not as appealing as West Ham, Southampton, Everton etc., clubs you have used as examples in comparison with ourselves.

Kolo,

It’s the kind of thing that makes fans defensive: “why would he go to Leicester?”, but it seems like a fair question to me. The only thing that offended me about your original post was the grammar.

You can blame the merseyside schooling system for that!

i think some of you are being naive.

Klopp has earned his stripes and if he waits long enough and with luck, he could be looking at coaching madrid.

The way I see it having survived the trauma of losing his best players to richer clubs, he can choose to coach a team that looks to winning league titles and european cups.

I cannot imagine newcastle, west ham, Leicester even liverpool are too attractive options.

Let's be honest, if Klopp goes to anyone other than Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool or Spurs I'll be utterly shocked.

He's top 3 most wanted managers in the world right now.

As much as it pains me to say it, I also fear we'll end up with Lennon or an ageing European coach.

Pearson to return?

Googling his managerial history makes frightening reading

He's a big name. But only in Scrabble.

The idea of Klopp going to Leicester is completely and utterly delusional. The blokes managed in the champions league for a number of years, and own titles. There is just no way he would move down to a side whose only been in the league a season

Hatches battened down here.....

posted on 8/7/15

Yeah it's unrealistic but the reality is, he's not going to manage a club in England and chase titles and Champions League because he won't be joining Chelsea, United or City!!

Even if he does join Liverpool, they don't have the spending power of those three and Arsenal will still be competing for fourth so who exactly is he going to manage?

There is not one single club in the division that has the potential to become a top four side, not one! So if his dream is to turn someone like Tottenham or Everton into a top club, he's going to be waiting for a very very long time because neither of them have the money to be able to continually invest £100m every season.

So I'll ask the question again, who exactly is he going to manage? He will never win the league in this country unless he's manager of Chelsea, City or United.

posted on 8/7/15

Liverpool is his only option and if Rodgers has a good season then he won't be managing in England.

Spurs have Pochettino and I don't see anything changing there. Dream over.

posted on 8/7/15

He's not going to manage us arro, I think we can safely start saying that......

He will wait until the right opportunity comes up. He can afford to, he's one of the most in demand managers in the world

If he's prepared to wait for Brendan Rodgers to be sacked, he might as well hang on for Manuel Pellegrini's sacking, because if City don't look like winning the title come October, Pellegrini could be gone too.

posted on 9/7/15

And what if Rodgers doesn't get sacked? This is my point!! There is no guarantee Liverpool will get rid so he could be waiting a long long time.

He also said he doesn't want a top four club so that's going to rule him out of Man City and again there is absolutely no guarantee that City will sack Pellegrini either.

It's all well and good saying he could have any club he wants, but the reality is maybe a suitable club won't become available. I think his ONLY option is Liverpool and I don't think they'll get rid of Rodgers.

posted on 9/7/15

Klopp didn't say he didn't want a top 4 job in the EPL. What his agent said was it doesn't necessarily have to be top 4. Big difference between those two statements.
