American football to an extent but it's not one on one.

Tennis is an awesome sport, really wanted Fed to win today but that's looking unlikely. Djoko is a beast at the moment. With Fed and Nadal on the downslope and Murray not being on his level. I can see Djoko getting close to Feds record. Probs won't overtake it but think he'll get around 15.

read somewhere that biathletes are pretty much the fittest athletes on the planet, tennis players whilst playing matches for 4hours take multiple breaks/rests and actually run around for less than half that time, not trying to pi$$ on tennis because I love the sport

At this level, it's as good as any sport. Two unbelievably good players as good as they can get.

The people in crowd tells you everything you need to know.

And yh it's a shame but looks like Djokovic has it almost wrapped up

They get a short rest after every point. Then a longer rest after a couple of games. Then a slightly longer rest after each set. And something to eat and drink.

I'd like to see PL footballers park their arsés after a couple of sprints and sit at the side of the pitch chomping on a banana and quaffing some pimms.

Biathletes are probably the fittest but there is a big element of strategy in tennis where in addition to the physical demands of getting round the court you have to pull off world class shots with the kind of accuracy that mere mortals can only dream of.

Depends how long he can go on at this level for I guess. He is a brilliant move on the floor so if age isn't kind to him he won't even get close.

But football isn't near the same intensity, not even close.

Play a few games of tennis and you'll understand.

For me Federer is the greatest sportsman of all time. I know that's a bold statement but to be playing as well as he has been lately after being past his best shows he is a champion at heart. Met him a couple of times and he's such a nice, normal guy who is a great example of humility.

Tourn De France must come close. Plenty of strategy, sprints, endurance,

Boxing and Forumla 1 require incr double fitness levels too.

It's an incredible sport.

Yh Tour de France is a good shout , I can't ride a bike for 10 mins never mind 4 hours for 20days or so

Busby after today he'll be on 9. If he keeps this level up till he's 31, with the little competition he has at the moment, I reckon he'll be on 13/14 by that point.

The level of tennis I used to play at as a kid was really tiring. Really tiring. Having to continually go and retrieve the ball cos I couldn't keep the damn thing in the court.

You're probably right to be fair.

Well played Djokovic. On this form Murray would never have had a chance.

I can't see Federer getting another Grand Slam unfortunately and barring the French, Nadal has literally no chance of winning another. Is Fed on 17? I think Djoko will get close. Fed is by far the most naturally gifted of the lot though.

Must play havoc on your joints in later life, luckily today the sun didn't come out and there was a breeze, must be a killer in the blazing sun

Fed

Well played, Djoko.

Darts is a much greater test of an athlete's physical and mental strength.

Those pints don't drink themselves.

Robb you're a contrary b@st@rd the majority of the time but agree with that100%. The man is a legend.

I know that's a joke, Don, but the mental strength needed at the very highest level in darts is huge.

True, how to throw a dart whilst balancing all 25st on one leg without falling over is an amazing feat

You can argue over the term 'sport', but in terms of longevity, surely Phil Taylor surpasses all.

Ha, to be fair I think from a mental point of view there isn't a harder sport in the world - unlike in football, where most insults just become noise, the arenas tend to be small enough that the players can hear an individual giving them grief, and most similar sports that require such precision (snooker, golf etc) are played in silence, at least whilst the player is actually making their shot.

So I'm with you!
