Btw I expect Pedro staying at Barca. He recently signed a new contract so it makes no sense to buy him now out.

You say even like it's a bad thing? No player at Arsenal would start in Barca's front three either.

He signed a new contract and reduced his buyout clause. If a big club comes in for him it's likely he'll leave because he's not first choice.

That's why I can see Arsenal going for him as he wouldn't cost huge money.

We have better and also enough players at Arsenal in Pedro's position. So no thank you. Regressed massively over the years.

I still think you'll try to sign him.

We have little incision without Theo. So we need a forward if Theo is the main striker.
I'd prefer Lacazette though.

Gunnerthru not really true. He has played less but still maintains his goals per minute ratio. Would be a battle between him and the ox on the right. He is the only top player definitely available atm

Yeah there's probably only 1 player in the world that would get into Barca's front three at the moment.....

Still, Pedro would be a strange signing this summer - Until last summer i was convinced we would eventually sign one of Alexis or Pedro - Not both.

He doesn't really have any pedigree as a striker either, so unless Theo is to be exclusively used as a central striker then there's no real need for Peter.

He is the closest thing to Theo in my opinion dot.
So he can play with Theo on the right
and if Theo is out (hope not but we better be ready), we can still play Giroud knowing Pedro would provide us the movement in behind from out wide which Theo used to give us.

Thing is I don't think you've got anyone that plays as good on the left as Pedro does. At Barca he was on the left and Sanchez was on the right. I think that would benefit Arsenal doing the same if they signed him. Especially with Walcott and the Ox being injured a lot.

It also gives Wenger the option of using him or Walcott up front occasionally without them being a threat to his lovechild's first team spot as the cf.

We'll see what Wenger does I guess.

Wenger seems to be waiting to see what happens ala Alexis/Ozil transfers - The problem this year will be going up against Chelsea or Utd, rather than Liverpool (#geographicalreasons), for the likes of Pedro and Benzema.

They will just get deals done, rather than rely on other deals to facilitate them.

Yeah that's true. Wouldn't surprise me if you try and sign Pedro and then he goes to Chelsea.

Must agree unfortunately. Why don't we just go for Lacazette I wonder.
Or even Pedro, he has a reasonable release clause now, just activate it and see what happens from there.

I hope we sign Lacazette just to see the meltdown on the Arsenal board.

And then what?

What do you mean?

I've seen some reports linking you with him but I feel you'll have someone else in your sights, someone more of a conventional number 9.
If I'm not mistaken Rooney is your only senior out and out striker now. And I don't think you'll go into the season with him and Wilson and other youngsters as your options.

I've no idea what we'll do, to be honest. We need a striker for sure, problem is the if we sign a big name striker it means back into the number 10 role for Captain Undroppable. And many don't want to see him play there, myself included.

I mean, it's a strange idea of fun, at least for me.

On the other hand, I've come to think that he's made that position his own? Am I wrong here?
Is he still the one you'd expect to be the main striker? In this case the high profile options will want assurances, while the younger ones will want playing time for their development.. A catch 22 in my view.

posted on 14/7/15

That's the thing, under Van Gaal he hasn't made any one position his own. He's player in loads of different ones, but they were all central positions. He played as the cf towards the end of the season but that was only after the poor form and injuries to RVP and Falcao saw them dropped.

If a big name cf is signed, as we have all been discussing on the United board, suggest Rooney isn't viewed as the first choice cf rather a player that will play behind one.

It's why it's difficult to know exactly what type of striker we'll sign.
