That sounds more like a Cluedo solution than an anecdote, Adler.

I once met Steve Walsh (the player, not the scout) at the bottom of New Walk, near the old council buildings. I walked with him for a bit and I told him I'd like to see him become Leicester City manager one day.

I was young and naïve.

Heskey in the HMV in town and a petrol station on Belgrave Road.

I once issued an international driving permit for MON when he was going to France to do some commentary for the BBC for France '98. I was chatting to him for ages about City and football in general and the guy was an absolute gent.

Best one was when we went to Sunderland away for the League Cup semi. Stopped in Durham for a pint on the way up and went into a betting shop to put a bet on City to win 2-1.

Woman at the betting shop guessed we were from Leicester and told us the players were all in a hotel just down the road, so we called in to the hotel and got a pint, and there in the bar sat the entire squad with John Elsom, MON, John Robertson and all!

Chatted with Muzzy for a bit and wished the lads good luck for the match that night. And of course, we went on to win 2-1. That was a great day all round!!

When I lived in Mickleover, saw Phil Gee a few times, buying 10 Benson's in the local petrol station

Met Peter Shilton too, really nice guy. My cousin knew him pretty well from his Southampton days, as she was married to his former club captain (who by then owned a pub, as all retired players did back then!). Apparently he was forever waking up on their sofa after a "few beers"!

I once met Iwan Roberts in a nightclub in town (Possibly Zoots?!) - bizarrley he was dressed as Fred Flintstone...

I once saw Stan Collymore in his car when I was out driving near nanpanton woods. I had taken a wrong turn and ended up off the beaten track. He was parked up near a few other cars. The funny thing is he kept flashing his headlights at me and the wife, even though my fog lights were definitely not on....so I don't know what he wanted.....

One saw Matt Elliott near Birmingham New Street station - was convinced he was in Brum to sign for Villa, so glad that turned out not to be true!

Speaking of Walshy, my friend's garden used to back onto his when he lived in Desford. We were sat in the garden one summer afternoon having a beer when we overheard Walshy saying to his missus 'Michelle! How much did you pay for that lamp??!!!'

Footballers I have met:

1) Ugo Ehiogu - I ran into him exiting a Robbie WIlliams concert, sent me flying.

2) Dennis Irwin - In Portugal, nice bloke.

3) Giggs & Neville - In a pub, had a quick picture but Nev was getting annoyed.

4) Sol Campbell - Local pub, went to same school

Went to school with a few. Joe Cole, Michael Owen, Defoe and a few others.

Cambiasso in an Italian restaurant in Stoneygate a couple of months ago.

Keith Gillespie in Portugal, just before he signed for us.
Many other (non-City) players in Portugal including Shearer and Southgate.

Sat behind Gary Lineker and his two sons at a Wembley play-off final and had a chat with Gazza in the car park of my parent's apartment in Bournemouth.

But the best ever was when Frankie Wortho stayed over the road from us in Oadby in the early 70's. Legend!

Closest I have come to meeting a Leicester player was seeing Jacob Laursen driving through Ashby de la Zouch. My dad has met and spoke to Rodney Fern who was delivering coal in Moira.

And I once saw Ian Stringer jogging through Coalville, but I guess that doesn't really count

Depends whether he was chasing after Nigel Pearson with a microphone at the time.

Now I think about it, I think it was Nigel who was chasing him....

I once saw Nigel Pearson at Leicester train station, he was on crutches at the time and looked at me with the facial expression of I know you know who I am but please don't talk to me face. Safe to say I didn't dare say anything!

Wolves away driving to Molineux down a dual carriageway in Wolverhampton, just after Mark Mcghee had left us to join them, and an Audi flies past with what looked like the fat Scottish Judas in the drivers seat.

I said to my mates 'That was McGhee in that car!' to which they replied 'No it wasn't do be daft. Just coz we're in Wolverhampton doesn't mean it was him...'

The lights ahead turn red and we pull up next to the Audi and, lo and behold, there is Mark McGhee behind the wheel.

My mate in the back winds his window down and starts shouting 'Oi McGhee! Why the fook did you leave us to go to bloody Wolves of all teams???' and, to be fair to MM, he was chuckling away next to us.

The lights change and McGhee flies off and we follow him through Wolverhampton all the way to the ground. Which was rather handy as we'd never been there before and wasn't 100% sure where it was!

I bumped into Nigel Pearson at Paphos airport in Cyprus two years ago just a couple of weeks after the Watford play off defeat. He was happy to chat and came across to me as a perfectly decent bloke.

I also went to a function in London in the summer of 1997. Spencer Prior was there and his shirt as worn in the League Cup Final was on offer in the charity auction. My bid of £10 unsurprisingly did not secure the shirt. Spencer was there and my mate and I following a few drinks asked for an autograph - not his but could he sign it as Emile Heskey? He did! We thought it funny at the time..
