I very much doubt it, they'd be at United if we were
Most Liverpool fans I've seen understand we are more powerful than them in the transfer market.
Liverpool are going round in circles tbh.
Sign some half decent players then sell their best players.
A United scout was invited to watch Firmino sometime last season. We also had been linked strongly to Clyne when he was at Crystal Palace but moved for Zaha instead.
From my understanding no official bid came in for those two players.Benteke I also doubt we made a concrete move for.
I think those guys' respective clubs/agents/whoever has used United's name to speed up the process of the transfers. Firmino, I knew, wasn't going to be true because we could definitely use another attacking midfielder...
Will be interesting to see who does better next season. Darmian v Clyne, Firmino v Depay and Benteke v whatever striker you get in.

Dont know what to think of Liverpool at the moment.Their youthfulness may click for them and they could go on to player some very good football.
Or they could go the opposite with certain players not living up to the hype, standards of a bigger club and competivness of the PL.
I wouldn't class their midfield as "terrible" just one that is heavily reliant on Henderson.
The thing is that clubs will scout and enquire about the availability of dozens of players so I dare say there was genuine interest. That is, however, a far cry from making a formal move.
We have probably been linked with 50 players this summer so if we don't sign them all have we been turned down on every occasion? It's just banter and pretty desperate banter at that.
I do think they are good signings for Liverpool though.

They're the undisputed kings of the close season. Get their tails up and it's a title challenge this year for sure.
Things turn to rat shít when they start actually playing football.
Statistics show that 98.32% of Liverpool fans say "Next year is our year!" once every year.
Eventually they'll get it right
They've won the title at Christmas a few times recently. Does that count?

They also show rival fans say "Next year is your year" to Liverpool fans multiple times every year.
"This is our year, lads!"
Can't see three players turning us down for Liverpool.
The main reasons players want to move is for:
1) Money
2) Trophies
3) Location
4) Playing time
Only one that could possible be a reason to choose Liverpool over Utd would be playing time, and it's unlikely that lighting strikes 3 times in the same spot.
My prediction is that Clyne will be the next Kyle Walker, Depay will be better than Firminho and Benteke I think is average.
There is no player from liverpool I would take bar Coutinho
I've heard that all 3 were boyhood Liverpool fans.

They always played as Liverpool on FIFA, apparently.
OP...Who gives a fluck whether Utd were in for them or not, we were and we go them. Happy days.
Looking forward to seeing Henderson dominate SWEINsteiger....
