TOP 5?

Keepers: De Gea, Courtois, Cech, Lloris, Hart(?)
Defenders: Kompany, Ivanovic, Fonte, Koscienly, Shawcross
Midfielders: Cazorla, Silva, Fabregas, Matic, Henderson
Attackers: Aguero, Sanchez, Hazard, Kane, Costa

Before you flame me with this, I'm trying to mix up the rankings by not lumping everyone from one team on to this. Also, this is heavily weighted on last season's form and reputation.

Carrick and Herrera are way better then Henderson and Cazorla.

I'll reserve judgement on Herrera until he gets a consistent run of games with this new midfield.

Carrick, a couple of years ago, I would've agreed. Now, I'm not sure. Age is catching up with him fast. I think over the course of the season, one of Schneiderlin or Schweinsteiger will be in everyone's top 5 midfielders in the Premier League.

Carrick was our key player last season. He was part of our winning streaks against big teams. Its telling after he got injured against Man City we collapsed again.

Just noticed the irony, carrick first game was coming on late in the 1st half against Man City and his last game was coming off late against Man City when it was 4-1. His first game back after another spell of injury was late on against Newcastle when it was 0-0 and you guessed it we scored a late winner like 30 seconds after he came on Magic.

Next thing we'll hear is januzaj is better than sanchez

Oh, I agree with you on Carrick's quality, Hafi. I just think with his injury history stacking up, there are 5 other midfielders I would have over Carrick right now.

Carrick missed virtually first 9 and a half league games and it was not suprising 2nd half against man city even with 10 men we started to dominate as carrick was pulling the strings. First 10 games worst start since 1986. He also missed last 6 games and last few minutes against man city in which we conceded and you guessed it we finish badly with 5 points in last 6 games.

I expect carrick to play more games this season and besides we used to have giggs and scholes playing regularly in there late 30's, carrick is young in comparison and has more stature about him.

I know we had less games last season but he only appeared in 20 games last season, he had at least managed 40 apperances in all competitions til then at man utd.

Carrick doesn't fit United's system of hoofing, so won't play much.

LVG made carrick vice-captain and was bailed out by him in terms of keeping his job:

LVG also said he needs more players like carrick

So instead he bought a replacement for him.

Nope its just that carrick was injured. He will still be first name on team sheet if fit but probably get more rest for like for like replacements during other games.

Doubt it, he doesn't suit the long passes.

For me there is a top 4 - aguero, hazard, Sanchez and courtios.

Silva, ozil and fabregas just behind due to consistency. Their talent is up there with the other 4 though.

Others must be seeing something I'm not but from what I saw last season, De Gea is a better keeper than Courtois.

Carrick is the GOAT. He's the single reason why utd didn't win the champions league last season, the fact they weren't in it is irrelevant he's that good.
