We've earned every penny we spend through success and hard work.
The difference will always be that MUFC can generate and spend their OWN money, not have to rely on businessmen coming and pumping money at it.
The money that we are spending is self-generated. That is the difference. Why did you even waste your time with this article?
This money being spent today has been generated through hundreds of years of hard work, sweat and success.
Don't accept we have been overtaken by City and Chelsea. Yes on two seasons form they have done better than us. But even under SAF we didn't win all the time. There are always ups and downs.
As for spending money, no problem if we have it. I would be disappointed though if we did not continue to promote from within. I think LVG will where ever possible.
Arsenal been stubborn with money? Have you seen your wage bill?

Because I don't want Wenger to buy let's say Benzema for £40 million if we have a chance of pulling the PL off with Walcott and Giroud.
And I wondered if you had that feeling with your own club?

You know what I mean.
We've been top in January a couple of times and cantering.
All it needed was a Larsson in the January sales and we would have won the race.
But prudence prevailed.
WhatNext. What a round about way of wumming Chelsea. Give it up.
Obviously fans of clubs want homegrown talent to be turning out for their side week in week out, but if the talents not there what can you do??
It depends where you want your club to go i suppose, in this age, it will take spending money for clubs to be successful.

...
That is pretty tragic
Obviously the OP is either having a cheeky dig or is spectacularly hypocritical. Both Arsenal and United live within their means and invest (lavishly compared to 99% of the world's football clubs) as much as they can afford within the constraints of their business models. It's just that United's revenue is far greater than Arsenal's.
Having said that, I don't have a problem acknowledging that it would be more satisfying to see us achieve success on the basis of youth players, smart, long-term investments in talent, superior management and tactics, etc. I acknowledge that there was more romance in the game when there was less money in it. I accept that playing catch-up following a period of relatively modest (and poorly targeted) investment by exercising crude financial muscle isn't the most inspiring narrative imaginable, especially for someone who grew up supporting United in the 80s when we weren't in a position to plunder the best players in the world.
So yeah, there's an element of moral compromise about it. Ultimately, that's the regrettable reality of top level football today. If we don't like it, we can opt out and watch some small community-based club. That ideal, pristine club would of course be nothing like Arsenal, whose spending levels are very much in line with their spending capacity. And I won't take lectures from Gooners, who are evidently getting their 'ah but we don't spend as much as you' excuses in early this year.

Tbh, that Sanchez fee looks nominal now.
Another great article by the 20000 club
Never letting their standards drop.
United have not been as successful recently as the squad required a complete overhaul. And in no small part due to SAF’s departure from the club.
Even with the state funded/oligarch billions pumped into Chelsea and City, United have shown they can comfortably compete on a financial level remaining self-sufficient.
WhatNext is the notorious Chelsea wum. He often pretends to be a Chelsea fan.
