We've been broadly rubbish to watch since old Arry left, bar a few games.
I do hope that'll change. Win or lose, we want to be entertained.
Most of our games have been boring to watch since AVB days, playing with inverted wingers has ruined our football and we've had to rely on individial brilliance.
all about points. would take 38 drab 1-0 wins next season and enjoy watching us parade the prem league trophy around WHL... then a season of boring 1-0 wins in the CL, the season after, and watch em parade that trophy around too.
points first, style second.
now if we don't get any points and we play boring football... then its a big issue.
but better to draw 0-0 and get a point than to lose 3-2 and get none.

Why don't we save all the travelling and toss a coin to see if we get the points or the oppo do. After all if you don't want to watch anything entertaining might as well turn football into utter dross and have the excitement of the coin toss moment.
I am so surprised that there are young people with this attitude. I suppose it is all about the superficial society we have become.

I just don't think we have the players or manager for exciting football. This squad just doesn't seem to have that bit of magic that we had a few years ago. Bale, vdv, modric, Lennon(when he was good), what a midfield that was. Bentaleb, mason, chadli, eriksen just not as good. I'm not digging those players out, they are all ok and this squad did finish fifth last season, but you have to say our squad has been on the decline for many seasons. We were so lucky with the form of Kane last year, we would have been 7th or 8th without him. Unfortunately I don't see this changing whilst we build the stadium. Bar another extraordinary talent through the youth system again of course.

We lost Bale, VDV, Modric & King all within a short period of time. These were all outstanding players and replacing them is almost impossible.
We have to be more realistic in our expectations though & also patient. Poch is slowly building his team up to what he wants.
Only on 3 occasions last year did we play the pressing game to good effect.
The two outstanding performances were the WHL games V Arsenal & Chelsea. This is how Poch wants the team to play at all times.
Remember also that we finished 5th, despite having a poor defence & the worst goals against record out of the top 6 clubs.
Improve on our defence & concede fewer goals next season & it could mean a difference of 10 points more!

arsenal would have been weaker without sanchez...
city without aguero...
villa would have gone down without benteke...

why do fans say "if such and such wasn't there this would have happened...." when the player is there?

You can agree with who you like, it doesn't make it right.
Chronic's idea of 38 boring 1.0 wins is not feasible.
Your "get a winning formula" makes it sound like we can buy one off the shelf. Perhaps Chelsea will sell us theirs!!
There is only one way, coach the players into skilfull team, and send them out to play each game with the message that they are part of the entertainment industry and the way to entertain is to do their job well and to stop wandering around the park thinking of their next Ferrari. The wins and winning formula will come with that.

And the difference was that in those games, particularly the Chelsea 5-3 game, they turned on the style and outscored their opponents. What a refreshing game that Chelsea one was, and if they can play like that against Chelsea, they can play like it against any team in the league.
By the way Smeg, our youth system is blinding!!
Some of the youngsters are truly outstanding: Carter-Vickers is rated as the best since Ledley!
Marcus Edwards is our own "Afro Haired Messi" & is wonderful on the ball.
Joshua Onomah has just signed until 2019 & is a great young talent.
Shaquile Coulthirst is pushing for a squad place.
Deli Alli is going to be a first team player inside 12 months in my opinion.
Harry Winks has already played for the first team. Then we have Carroll, Pritchard etc all vying for a spot in the squad.

And the difference was that in those games, particularly the Chelsea 5-3 game, they turned on the style and outscored their opponents. What a refreshing game that Chelsea one was, and if they can play like that against Chelsea, they can play like it against any team in the league.
