nice goal by kane. bang.
another one next week into uniteds net please Harry
Great goal but missed quite a few sitters.
He was a bit like that last season to be honest but the great thing that I see is that he gets into positions and is getting chances.
I'm feeling quite confident of him having another great season.
My son watched the game online. Says it was a good game and Kane could have had at least 3 if it wasn't for the keeper who was a 'very good' shot stopper. I thought the pen was a bit soft but the defending for the second was poor. No change there then...
I only got to watch the last half hour of the game;
I thought Trippier played well in that time. He knew what he was doing and would dictate to the younger players like Winks, telling them when to switch the ball to the free man across.
Onomah had a really good chance once thread through by Kane but didn't manage to open up his body and fluffed the shot towards the keeper. I've not seen much of him before and even taking his age into account I wasn't too impressed - still very young though and everyone has okay/ bad games.
Alli didn't show the ability i thought he'd have. He needs to be a little more composed and aware of where other players are. I was surprised when he was outpaced by centre back Chad Marshall and a couple lacklustre diagonal balls across.
Winks showed some promise for me. Managed to dribble directly and always picked out a good pass, understanding that it doesn't always have to be the one which leads to an assist. Linked well with Kane at one point too for the Onomah miss.
As I mentioned I only saw the last 30 minutes or so but was surprised from an official Spurs post of the line up to see Dier in midfield. Wonder how he done and a bit disappointed too seeing him thrown into positions like Jones at United was. I guess it still helps getting game time as Vert/ Toby will look to cement a partnership.
Played him as a DM, did ok and son thought Alli was good???
we need to stop faaacking dier about.
if hes a cb then play him cb.
if we gonna convert him to a dm then fine...
it will stunt his development to play him everywhere apart from his natural position.
I agree Chronic, one or other. Not like we haven't got others to play DM...
As I say, I didn't see it but the boy thought he looked very comfortable.
Thought we was pretty good tbh
Kane missed some sitters as did onomah.
Dominated the game and players had a very good workout
Jebuz kane is one quality player ain't he. So glad we finally have that complete striker at the club. But our defence once again look shocking. Last chance saloon for Poch to get this defence sorted and ready. We can't have another season of us shipping goals left, right and centre

yup.
I am fully behind Poch, but if I see another season of nonsense defending, then hes got to either bring in a specialist defensive coach, or hes got to go, because its impossible for us to develop if we ship goals here there and everywhere, and out of nothing....
it means no lead is ever safe
Some highlights of Ali if anyone is interested.

Ive just watched the game on sky sports. We played well and shouldve won the game let alone lose it.
Kane coul have got four in the first half but met his match aginst the very agile all stars gk.
A moment of madness gifted them a penalty and awful defending for the 2nd.
In the 2nd half we wre dominant without making too many chances, Trippier was excellent and for me should be ahead of Walker at rb. Wimmer looked solid enough, winks neat and tidy, onomah energetic but wasteful but the big plus for me was Dele Ali.
I think we have a real player here lads, with the right coaching and experience i think he is going to be top drawer.
I agree chronic and I to am fully behind poch but I won't accept another putrid season of comical defending. No excuses now as the defence has been strengthened
I'm yet to see Trippier tested defensively but going forward he looks a bigger threat than Walker. He just needs to learn when to cross and when to keep the ball, atm he just crosses it everytime, probably a habit picked up at Burnley
Wimmer looks comfortable on the ball, Vertonghen-esque in that regard. He also looks quite big. I could see him overtaking Jan in the pecking order if he doesn't fix up, apparently he made an error in the first minute (my stream hadn't started then)
Dier in midfield is a stupid experiment and won't work
I thought the young players also did well, Alli in particular stood out, I think I underestimated him a little, he's always looking forward

Spot on assessment
Delle Alli definitely has the potential and at 19 is still very young but in my opinion he had an average game against the MLS XI last night.
I thought maybe I must have missed something that everyone else is seeing but having watched that video link posted earlier I stand by my point.
There was 1 possibly 2 noteworthy plays in those highlights. He needs to be a little bit more composed in the opponents half and aware of our players movements/ positions.
I know highlights are a bit suspect sometimes but Alli looked the business to me from that clip. Not hiding, always in the thick of it and looking to move in the right direction. Bit more familiarity with the team and those passes that didn't quite make the grade could become a lot better.
I didnt see the game but from the text commentary in the middle of the night Trippier seemed to be doing all the right things as well. I wish Soldado wasn't apparently on his way out, we might see a different player when working with someone supplying the box passes he is said to favour!

I do get what you're saying. From clips I watched when we signed him I was worried about his ability under pressure, he looks like he needs space, and needs to improve that aspect of his game. But he impressed me in other ways yesterday. He was positive in his passing for the most part and quite skilful

How was Alderweireld?

Could've done better for their 2nd if we're being harsh. Other than that he seemed ok, too early to judge
Cool, hopefully once he's integrated properly we will see a good partnership with him and Jan
It was a cracking goal but i think he hit it because he had nowhere left to go.
Great strike though .
