Liverpool v Reading
The champions of the championship came up against the champions of the Europa League today in an evenly contested match. The main chances of the first half for Reading was when Rosicky's shot rattled the woodwork and Lopez's shot was expertly saved by Courtois. Liverpool had a golden chance to take the lead on half time when Mata laid off Adryan on the edge of the area unmarked but the forward put his shot in to orbit. The second half was an improvement, Cisse nearly scored on the hour mark with a cheeky outside foot lob but the bar saved Liverpool. Reading took a shock lead when Rosicky slipped a ball through for Bellamy who cut inside and curled a lovely shot in the bottom corner. This was a wake up call for Liverpool and they started to bombard Reading, they pegged them back immediately when Dzaegov's crossed was tapped in by Torres. Reading should of had a penalty when Vucnic was two footed by Romeu and Liverpool countered from there and Fellani whipped in a cross from the middle and Olsson's diving header flew past Benaglio and in to the top corner. Liverpool controlled the game from there on in and secured the win.
