Wow, you are stretching the 'new signing' definition a fair bit. A youth player or two and two players signed last year?
Yul Brynner
Steve McQueen
James Coburn
Robert Vaughan
Charles Bronson
Brad Dexter
Horst Buchholz
plus
Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, quite a line up.
D'Jeezus
Although not all new signings, they are all players who haven't been part of a squad full time for us previously - a game here and there perhaps - hence 'signings' in the OP.
I know a lot of fans have been underwhelmed with our business so far, but in our best seasons of recent years we have had a pretty low key transfer window prior to it, low expectations going in to the season, yet have not sold a key player and have gone on to have very good (top 4) seasons:
------------------------------------------
I know what you are saying HRH but as a poster put it in a thread yesterday, (he is, (and I am)) "fed up with signing squad players rather than those for the starting line-up."
We only have one signing in that category, Alderweireld. We have strengthened the defence but it is in attack and goals that we need a good signing. Kane carried us last term but I cannot see him doing it again. We live and learn though.
We need someone who is going to be an automatic starter, a game changer, someone who will set the pulse racing, someone who we can be excited about.
Many of us wanted Trippier to start last week, to give us a different style, a different approach. But no, same old same old. That game was there for the taking and we failed.
the imminent signing of N'Jie will take us to 8 'signings' in the PL squad for this season:
Alderweireld
Wimmer
Trippier
Yedlin
Carroll
Alli
Pritchard
N'Jie
--------
you what?
I have to explain again?
None of those players played any significant role in our squad last season - or ever for that matter past a game here and there - they are new players for Poch essentially.
Bill, I understand that but I don't think we need a wow signing. With Alderweireld arguably 8 of a first choice XI is set now - probably just RB, one CM and RW are debateable.
We will (hopefully) have another player to take the load off of Kane, and have three very very exciting players in Alli, Pritchard and N'Jie to freshen things up going forward.

Never heard of him, never seen him play, so I reckon he will be a complete dud, but you don`t get a lot of £12 million these days.

Njie in his 1st proper professional season did brilliant, 8 goals and 6 assists or something like that? If Pritchard did that we'd be going nuts over him and he's older.
