I'm not worked up I can assure you. Plenty of people have different opinions to me on football. On an issue of derogatory racist remarks though, as john gee says, there should be zero tolerance and that's what I'm giving you
It doesn't matter if you're black or white... But if you're yellow you might have Jaundice
Oh and billionaire, you said that the Vardy incident wasn't offensive. So referring to a stranger by their race as an insult isn't offensive.
Awful thing to say really
Yes, zero tolerance but you define racism between Scots and English as " banter " . That's hardly zero tolerance is it. You don't get to define what race and athnicity is either I'm afraid. As I've said, the UK consensus 2011 defines, welsh, northern Irish, Scottish and English as different ethnicities.
Sorry to point this out BS but the OP clearly stated this thread wasn't about Vardy or Leicester, it was just a general observation about something he saw.
Where did I say scots and English was banter?
I just said it's not on the same level as insulting a person of a different colour to you. you're getting confused again
He did TB, but he also name checked Vardy in the post and of course used the same term Vardy used. Which is why we ended up discussing Vardy, which is when billionaire, decided to tell us all its not offensive at all.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also read back over my comments, i never once said it wasn't offensive, I actually referred to it as mildly offensive. The word J@p in my view isn't, hence why there's no issue calling something japfest. Then again anyone can be offended by anything they choose.
Oh so I guess you didn't write this earlier in the thread referring to the term Vardy used.....
"Because its not actually offensive, some idiot somewhere decided it is so everyone has to go along with them, that's how it works nowadays."
Do you know why the term j@p is considered offensive and how it was used? I'm guessing not. But it's ok because you didn't say any of the above
That was in regards to the word J@p, not the vardy incident. if its so offensive on its own I'm not sure how a thing like japfest could even go ahead.
BS I hate racism but I do think the world had gone mad. The guy was Japanese, it wasn't like he was Thai or from any other Asian origin.
I get called a p@m all the time and English people get referred to as p@ms everyday. It's no less offensive than calling someone a J@p. It's a derogatory term but because I'm white it's perfectly ok. I bet you don't have a problem with me being called a p@m but you'd find great offense if a Pakistani was called a P@ki. I've got J@p mates, Abo mates and P@ki mates and they all refer to themselves as such.
End of the day you find something horribly offensive, I don't. That's all this comes down to. Meanwhile you dismiss other form of racism. Weird.
One thing I've concluded from this article: I'll know to be offended whenever someone calls me any word with an @ symbol in it.

Well that's more sexist, referring to a women's body part with a term like that. Correct term is vulv@ : )
End of the day, the term j@p, like it or not is considered to be offensive. Not just by me! It's the majority view in the same way the P word is offensive to describe people from Pakistan. Read the statement from show racism the red card on the Vardy incident.
The majority have decided that words like p@ki, the n word, j@p are unacceptable. For whatever reason, probably because they're not classed as separate races, Scottish people and English are not looked at in he same way.
This isn't just my opinion, its a widely held view. Otherwise why do you think Vardy has been fined - to placate me?

They don't call you P0m because of your skin colour.
I've never defended using words like p0m or scot or Aussie. That's something billionaire has tried to make out, you won't find a single example of me saying that those words are ok.
But I understand why society views them as different to j@p and p@ki

J@p and p@ki are not the same, the latter has many negative connotations and has generally been used to describe anyone as south Asian origin, the same way the word chiinky is used for most Asians. J@p just isn't in the same category. And the reason he was fined is because the club and F.A have to show zero tolerance, which is understandable. This is the reason he only got a fine and not a ban.
You keep going on about society too, society decided English and Scots are different ethnicities but you still can't accept it.
Some years ago, about 1973 I believe, I was forced to spend a few perishing nights in some godforsaken bivouac near Edensor in Derbyshire, close to the Peak District National Park. There's a J@p Lane nearby. I guess they'll be tearing that street sign down with great haste.

Or is this just the latest in a long line of 'false shock' articles.
Show Racism the Red Card comment on video footage which appears to show Leicester City Football Club striker Jamie Vardy using an offensive term:
"The language used by Jamie Vardy in video footage is unacceptable and this incident, and some of the reaction to it, highlights some common misunderstandings regarding the nature of offensive language."
"Language changes over time and its historical usage can influence whether a term is deemed offensive. Following the events of World War II, where the term ‘j@p’ was used to dehumanise and degrade those of South East Asian heritage, the meaning of the term has changed from its origins as an abbreviation to one which is inherently discriminatory."
I trust that helps billionaire.
Different ethnicities can still be the same race that's the problem with that argument, even anthropologists can't properly agree on the exact terms of race and ethnicity and when they should be used.
So we work on common sense. Well most of us anyway. You'll find plenty of comedians making English or Scottish jokes, but not daring to do the same about black people. Why do you think that is?

Nothing false from me. I think Vardy was being racist. I think he meant that term in a racist way. I'm certainly not pretending to be offended
Because of people like you who are perpetually offended by everything, even on behalf of others who might not take offence. Jerry Seinfeld mentioned this in a recent interview, most young people nowadays don't even know what true racism is, they hear a catch word and take offence before even thinking. Chris Rock has talked about this as well recently.
