Its a long season ahead. He'll get enough game time
The farce last season? You mean after his 15 month out injured?
Today wasn't a game where he was needed. The only slightly confusing sub was Ox for Coq and not Arteta for Coq.
Bringing on Arteta and Gibbs for a tired Alexis and Ozil made perfect sense. We were getting exposed down the left so good decision to double up there.
What did you want us to do, go chasing a third and exposing ourselves?
Why exactly would we get a defensively abject player on when we are trying to protect a lead?
As for him not starting the game, it was between him and Giroud since Wenger really doesn't want to start oth Theo and Alexis together on wings due to his insistence on playing one playmaker at wing.
Think Theo will start vs Liverpool as it should be an open game.
Watching aguero today was a reminder of how far we are lacking up top.
Agree re Aguero, we lack a top class striker and it will cost us the league. Olivier tries , but he is not a top top echelon striker . It's not only about goal scoring, the elite terrify the opposition, Giroud , alas does not have the desired affect on the opposition
We can still win the league imo. Sanchez is good enough to propel us there. Probably the best in the league after aguero. I do wonder whether he would do more damage in a front pairing.

Aguero missed about 4 sitters, didn't play well to me
I disagree. Most strikers would not have got those four chances and the goal was out of this world.
I see Alexis in the same mould as Dennis . He is liable to pop up anywhere, either scoring or creating . Dennis had Thierry or Wrighty, ahead of him , Giroud is not ion a par with either of them . We need a top drawer striker or most of the work of our creative players will be wasted .
Alexis is closer to Henry than Dennis. Alexis is far from subtle.
I did like having Alexis as a second striker when ozil was out mind you. I really think the diamond is the way to go.
^Agreed. Alexis behind the striker is his best position
I'm not even questioning the tactics today. I would have loved Ox starting, but I think Wenger largely got it spot on. I'm just wondering why we deemed a clearly dispensable player to be worthy of being the top paid player in the team. There are times you watch Walcott and you wonder with his limitations if he's really any better than the likes of Mane. He seems to have acquired a status in the squad which his talent and influence doesn't really merit.
He's English , Nuff said !
I thought wengers subs made sense today. I don't think Walcott would have had much impact in a game like today's.
You could possibly question why not arteta for coq. But I think because Ramsey can do a good job in CM. we could have ox on to relieve the pressure. He's very good at dribbling long distances with the ball, he's quite strong an can hold people off as well. Even if he doesn't do anything with the ball, he does a great job at taking the ball away from pressure.
Walcott isn't as good at doing that. For me Walcott only really comes on if you need a goal. If you want a player to help defensively and relive some pressure, out of the 2, ox is your man.

Not sure about that. The chances were not made by himself. They were a result of good moving and passing to him. I expect a world class striker to put at least two of his big chances away.
If the chances he missed these kind of chances he would be abused. Think Aguero get away with that because City won comfortably.
His goal was world class. Think he was great in that game besides.
I expected Theo to start as well....We won, so all is good.
I was puzzled why he didn't start the game...have we kept him so that other clubs won't have him? I know he will play part at some point in the season as I don't trust fitness of our squad. So Theo will get his chances but why not play him when he seems fully fit and ready to go?
Given how he finished last season and having just signed a bumper new deal I am a little perplexed at how he has been left out again. I think there are players that contribute far less than he does with regards to goals. I can't seeing him starting the next to games, it's a bizarre situation. If this is how Wenger is going to use him, he should put a transfer request in.
He's out of my fantasy team that's for sure.
Which probably means he'll start the next 10 games and score in every one.

Lol..I have same issue...looking at friendly games I thought he will be on fire...but its all cold !
I might bring Yaya Bday cake Toure or Sanchez in Theo's place.

Unless of course there is more to it. Maybe he is assessing the some ppl before he makes changes in the transfer window.
it was completely the wrong game for theo, it was a really crowded box and he cant do anything if someone is within 5ft of him
Can't do anything if someone is within 5ft of him?....
Except score in the fa cup final.
the cup final goal he ran in unmarked and had a free shot, no one was near him
