Who would beat him in a 'show me your medals' competition?

No, Brendan Rodgers takes that mantle.

I'll let people work that one out for themselves.

Or do we now need "boundaries" when discussing who the best player in the world is as well ?

Best manager ? Plain and simple

Is Mourinho the best manager in the world?

If he is, should he be doing a better job than he is currently?

Well it is like this.

If your boundaries were winning trophies, then yes, I guess among current managers he is the best.

If it were building great teams to watch he is nowhere near the best. In fact he has never built a team.

There are always going to be pros and cons with Jose.

Are even the best managers not allowed to draw or lose the occasional game here and there.

Seem to remember Utd losing three on the trot last season under Van Gaal and he is supposedly one of the best managers in the world right ?

The answer is probably the same as 'is this a pointless article'..............

Mourinho is a product of Van Gaal, you should be grateful to him.

Define "building a team" though because nobody actually builds an entirely new team from scratch. That's just a myth.

You could easily argue that José "built a team" at Chelsea and a title winning one at that. Even better when you consider it was done with a net spend of practically nothing.

Depends what you want. He's good for a short term fix of getting the best out of a squad and he's the master of league campaigns, much like Fergie.

Blooding youth, he's awful at, or he just doesn't want to try.

He should be doing better, and you clearly think so otherwise there wouldn't be this willy-waving 'he's the best manager in the world' article.

If he was doing his job to the best of his abilities you'd be nearer to the top than the bottom.

Courtois, Matic, Fabregas, Willian and Costa were all placed into a title winning side created by José and even though Azpi was already here before he only became a regular starter under José.

I'd say that easily can be defined as "building a team".

Why do you need acceptance from United fans?

If he retains the title this season I would say yes but I have a feeling he will flop again in his 3rd season at clubs

Well the Chelsea board is currently infested with wums and it seems an interesting time to ask this question with so many people around the country doubting Jose right now.

SAF built at least three of them, Sir Matt two. LVG did it with Ajax, Shanks with Liverpool.

If Pep has more medals then Pep is a better manager

Jose is no slouch though, he's great entertainment and proper loves Sir Alex who he learned so much from, not least about how to manipulate the media

They were all bought superb. Building a team means developing unknown players as well and integrating them into the team.
