What a divvy, but he should be treated the same way as we would treat Stones or Barkley if they had done the same. It grinds my gears when clubs throw a squad player to the wolves, but bend over backwards to defend their star players.
To my knowledge Barkley or Stones have not been involved in a hit and run/drink driving allegation.
Break the law and pay the price IMO
Club have made no comment at present so let's not prejudge what they will do.
As for me,I hope he gets what he deserves,he's old enough to know drink driving can leave to deaths.
He apparently hit a cyclist and left the scene so he's a coward that could have left some innocent person dying in the street. If that turns out to be correct then I hope the law deals with him with the harshest sentence they could hand out.

Some of the Man Utd youth players from the 90's/00's have got themselves in pretty bad trouble.
Premier footballers on £20k a week can call a local cab firm and say he wants a cab booked for the whole evening if they intend to go on the ale.
No chance of drink driving no chance of getting your expensive set of wheels keyed by jealous or rival fans
and have a driver sitting there waiting for you.
I had a mate who, uncharacteristically, wrote off his car after eight pints.
Obviously I asked what the hell he was playing at and he said that after one, two three pints he wouldn't even dream of driving.
After eight or nine he was "Yeah I can drive no problem".
It affects your decision making at the end of the day.

I'm not excusing him,he should be punished. I had to walk 5 miles the other day to feed someones dog, because I had a skinful the night before. I just think everyone should be treated the same,no matter what your market value is.

Going out in your car knowing you are going to have a pint or two is asking for trouble.
For sure. I hate DD and have no time for it what so ever. It's lazy.
It was well out of character but I can't remember why he got in.

I remember my old footballing days and the older guys driving to away games and having a beer or two after...
"five and drive" would be the norm, but that is no longer socially acceptable.....and it never should have been!
The club should give him the biggest fine & suspension they can. Unfortunately the law doesn't the best record when dealing with footballers & drink driving offences. He is bizarrely a lucky bloke, if he hit the cyclists while drunk he is very fortunate not to have seriously hurt or killed him.
My nan used to have to hold my Grandads head up when he drove he used to get that pīssed.
No excuse indeed. What a plonker.
Surprised he can drive a car without picking up an injury
