Transfer time again

Ya beat me to it, just about to sit down and start the same article .
Would rather keep McCann over Cork, both good young players however Cork to me is a little light. Theres no real substance in his tackles, only get to see games on TV and may not be a good indication. McCann enough said he can change games and hopefully he will give us two more years for the ones we have lost.
Do we need the players mentioned? more than that would say we need a good game plan, have not had one since OC. We seem to think we have to go forward at full steam every opportunity, got to learn to hold the ball. Good examples of this are Barcelona, not comparing us to them or believe we could be them but they do not give you the ball.
If you have it the other team have to chase it down, be patient go every which way and shoot when you get the chance.
The other thing that I look for is a physical presence and fitness, get the energy levels up. They looked lethargic in some games last year.
Centre half, lots of choice with what we have
Midfield, take it down the wings and fill the middle
GK, we have two very decent keepers just close the other teams down.
Would rather see a few players leave tbh and free up room for loans or reserves to come through.

This was my theme for an article today too!

What are the chances of losing McCann? I've seen a few people mention him possibly going - are other clubs interested? He didn't have much playing time this season but made a decent impact from what I saw and heard.

Strong indications that Bolton are after him, we will get nothing near his worth at a tribunal.
Its the system that the players and agents have wanted, I do think it will come back to haunt them if the TV money ever goes.

Transfers... always full of suprises and ambition but by 5pm on September 1st it is usually classified as a waste of good time and money. Then afterwards, that will be OUR team from September to the end of the season with afew January tweaks.

Scenario 1- Ambition but no reward. Last summer, remember how we had just finished the 09/10 campaign after beating Spurs 4-2? Then afew were calling names like Whittingham, Ambrose and Frazer Forster.... then we ended up with Ross Wallace, Lumo and Marney! How about some of that ambition this time hey?

Scenario 2- Our biggest signings. This will be 2 players we had last season, McCann and Cork. With Cork back at Chelsea will we beat off the competition to sign him? Hopefully we do so BEFORE the season has begun and secure McCann for next season atleast. After paying his wages and treating his injuries with no football to boot, he owes us another year!

Scenario 3- The worse Scenario. Our signings lack ambition, we don't get Cork and McCann leaves. Who does that leave in the middle? Marney, Grezza and Bartley (could include Edgar). Having already off loaded McDonald, we could face the heart of our team being ripped apart and with a defence that doesn't know the meaning of the word 'Defend' we could be exploited through the middle.

Edgar would give us some bite in the middle and he does have the stamina to last a game, not a bad thing.
Its getting the forward line right that will help the defense

Afternoon all,
Fair point but I reckon we need, for the perfect scenario, McCann and one other ball-winning midfielder to work alongside the guile and class of Cork with maybe one other ball winner if support is needed.
With a quick, strong midfield, the defence will be protected much more than it was last year and, as we saw at times last season, the attack can really get to work.
We could do with Cork having a lousy U21 tournament or picking up a slight injury in training, just enough to stop him playing.
If Henderson is "worth" £20 mill, Corky has to be at least 8

NO!!!!! its silly money for Henderson, hope they get it then we may do better if Mc goes off to Bolton.
I hope Burnley do wrap Cork up but they wont pay over the top for wages.

Southampton look favourites for Cork, will the lure of premiership football be too much for McCann? Kilby and Flood need to show some ambition and stump up some cash (where has it all gone???) for these two.
Can't see us finishing top six next season if we lose them plus Eagles. Getting a bit fed up with the board talking about promotion and not backing it up with cash. Cork wanted to come to us but we offered nothing!
All very frustrating. Will probably sign a few donkeys to replace them!
