Very fair summary Ivan
Whilst I was at the game in body the rest of me was buckled with a hangover so didn't really see it until later that evening when I watched it on catch up.
We looked pretty sharp in stages and but for the keeper could have scored a few more, we were not superb however and that is what shocked me, a lack of adventure in the set up from Jackie, I appreciate he is under pressure and didn't want to lose but once it was 1 he should have loosened the reins a wee bit.
He looked like a Samaratians case in his after match interview, felt a bit for the man, never enjoy seeing anyone I have liked feel/look that
Piff
I think he's waiting for the axe to fall too to be honest. But the chairman is too busy with his plans in Australia to make the decision. He's too far removed from it all now.
It's a shambles.

I wouldn't be against McCall to be honest.
At this moment in time we need someone who can get the team fit and organised and can work with the youth system to bring through the right players at the right time, something Jackie isn't doing.
We just really need a change and all the media sympathy is really irritating to be honest. There's a piece in the Herald today vilifying the fans for turning on him which simply doesn't appreciate the number of problems at the club. Although I probably shouldn't take it seriously when it lists GMS and Armstrong as internationals.

Zico, that's the rumour.
I don't think anyone is taking the club position of "viral infection" seriously. Even the media are hinting that it's something else, without explicitly saying so.
I still expect a statement about a mutual termination to be made in the next week or so.
Not much to be added to Ivan's summary.
As has been said on here before we have a manager who insists on playing 4-2-3-1 when results ( 4 wins in 23 or 28 if you include pre-season ) show that it doesn't work.
And then for every game he changes the personnel but not the system.
Substitutions are the same. Different players but same system.
No idea if Muirhead is a good player and I doubt if we'll ever find out the way he's played up front with no support.
Noticeable that the press and pundits are coming out in support now with the old story of how great he was until he had his best players sold.
No mention that he lined his own pockets at the same time.
I fear that McNamara is on his way to becoming United'd most hated manager.
Not that he appears to a monkey's.
Na to be fair the fans have been through it, cast your mind back 18-24 months ago and every thing was looking good, young hungry squad with a few decent flair players who could get you oot your seat
There seems to be almost a malaise at the club abd the whole Aussie thing cannot be helping, selling the players was perhaps inevitable to a certain degree but re-investment and bringing in new players has been sluggish
The next 2-3 games will be pivotal to both the club and wee Jackie

I felt sorry for Muirhead. Totally isolated while on the park and there was very little he could do, especially as a young player
Smid
Apparently part of the reason for the fall out between Jackie and Stevie Campbell is because Jackie is buying players that Stevie doesn't think are any better than the boys he has in his youth team. Guys like Simon Murray have been signed when we have the likes of Jordan Moore in the youths who don't appear any worse. We spent £50k on Murray. Did we need to?
His signings have been poor, Ciftci and Robertson apart.
Celtic missed the boat on Robertson-BIG TIME

I feel sorry for Jackie here
He has been forced to sell his best players raking in about 8 to 10 million in last 3 seasons
Ciftci 1.75
GMS & Armstrong 2m
Robertson 2.5m
Gauld 2m
Russel 1m
all of this out with his control, paying off the debts ran up 10 to 15 years ago
any team losing the cream of their talent and not spending on the team is weaker
But hes a good manager, and united's youth systems is mibby the best in the country so I have no fears for them comfortably mid table
don't stress ivan it will be fine
I thought United wiped their debt out last season without needing to sell players?
The boy Murray is all effort but looks a dreadful footballer.

I though they just moved it from the bank to some "united supporters" as the bank was getting twitchie at it
Durnan just looks like a daft big division 1 centre half I'd put Souttar back into centre half, he's not got enough energy and drive for the middle of the park. McGowan is a good SPL player but he's being hung out to dry in that team just now. Dixon looks like a struggling veteran now.
The finances are a sore point.
Everyone was on board with the debt reduction plan and we accepted we'd have to sell someone every year. However, the "debt" was mis-sold to us as supporters. We were told we had a certain amount of debt yet this was in fact only the bank debt - which has gone. We still have "soft" loans to wealthy supporters - apparently the guy that runs GE Engineering who has been rumoured to be interested in buying the club and Lorraine Kelly(!) - and it now appears that Thompson is intent on paying these off as swiftly as possible, despite their being no great pressure to pay them off.
I have no idea what our debt actually is because we're constantly being told different things by the club. Given how much we've taken in with fees, we shouldn't really have any debt left.
Bit harsh on the signings front Ivan. Those two were stand-outs but he's also signed a number of good players. Morris, Fojut, Paton, Erskine, McGowan and Spittal have all appeared to be at least decent signings. Plus the likes of Telfer, Connolly, Donaldson, Bodul and Zwick look promising from the limited time they've had.
I'm not sure what quality you're expecting on a mid-table Premiership budget, but they're all at least acceptable players for our level.
Also been a few stinkers of course such as Szromnik, Oyenuga, Anier, Bilate (due to his injuries) and potentially Dixon. The decision to loan out Graham to our rivals also wasn't the best, plus Gomis going and ending up at the team currently dominating the Premiership shows something's wrong.
That's what makes the team's current form unacceptable. We do still have a decent squad of players. The excuse of losing our best players doesn't hold water as we still have enough quality to at the very least see us top 6. The fact that he only got 4th with Gauld, Çiftçi, Robertson, Mackay-Steven and Armstrong is the problem. 4th & 5th over the last two seasons weren't successes but it makes our current form look better, as we're still underachieving. We should still be aiming for 5th, 4th or possibly even 3rd this season. How many teams actually have a better squad than we do?
