First time for everything...

I am very sad with this......I wanted it to be a good solid 9 as I don't have enough time as it is - and could put it on the back burner, and with Fallout looming and about 30% into the witcher this equates to bad news for me! Now all I see are 10s popping up everywhere.....what a year this will be for video games!

Hi all. I've never played or even paid much attention to the MGS series. Reviews are incredible, but I'm still not sure exactly what sort of game it is (which might sound ridiculous to you!).

Could anyone briefly summarise?!

Its like Splinter cell, but better.

Stealth Action Espionage title, although the newer titles gives you the gun blazing approach, there is also a base building aspect to it, in which you abduct people/steal objects and animals to populate said base.

NotSoMagicJuande, I've never played or even paid much attention to the MGS series

I was in exactly that position last gen, but have to say the MGS Guns Of Patriots on the PS3 was brilliant, being my first foray into the MGS series, the production values were very high and was a very enjooyable experience.

What I'm basically saying is give it a go you won't be disappointed.

just been checking it out, it looks seriously good.

I recently borrowed MGS4 (PS4) and after level 1, I gave it back. It was pants.

Should I have given it more time?

MSG4 as I said I enjoyed, don't really understand how anyone would call it pants, what did you do look at the intro and leave

MGS4 was very much a fanboy's wet dream, I freaking loved the return to Shadow Moses section but I can perhaps understand how someone new to the series wouldn't get along with it.

But by giving up you missed by far the most epic boss battle in any video game ever - two nuclear-armed giant bipedal mechs having a fight in an abandoned dockyard. With lasers and rockets and guns and explosions and punching. Oh my god it was so cool!
And the final boss battle was even better.

Played through a few of mgs5 as its in games with gold at the mo. The controls are much improved, pretty dark game though!

Which one was MGS4? Guns of the patriots? I only gave it a couple of hours but couldn't get into it.

Apart from that and the Ninja one which I consider more a sister game rather than part of the series, I loved these games.

Hopefully this one is closer to MGS1 & 2, they were surely the best

I am able to get Phantom Pain on disk on Saturday..... Saturday and Sunday are both race days for me tho ... Saturfay practice and quali and sunday the race ...... ohhhhhh decisions decisions .......also been confirmed that i can get fallout about 5 days early too whoop whoop get my hard copy of it on Nov 5
