Neville's comments on Wenger

"I don't even find our football entertaining, we do the same thing over and over, City are far more entertaining - they actually vary their play for a start and don't recall much ugly football from them."

We stopped playing beautiful football years ago. We still try, occasionally, and sometimes it even does result in something excellent, usually against dross like that team goal vs Norwich, but on the whole our football is pretty average. Last season, despite having our most expensive squad ever, was one of the worst for footballing beauty since Wenger has been at Arsenal FC.

I can only imagine how Arsenal fans are feeling. He's been there a long time after all. But it's ok:

"He's not stupid. I bet if we sat down with him he'd have a very good explanation as to why he does the things he does."

He's already explained that one, he has a philosophy.

"I don't agree with Neville, pace and power in midfield is one way of winning the title, but Chelsea won it last year with the sluggish pair of Fabregas and Matic"

Matic is really powerful. Just because he isn't black doesn't mean he's not just as strong as Vieira or Yaya Toure.

They had Hazard and Willian, both lightening quick and very strong.

They had Costa up top, an absolute battering ram of a player, and two absolutely solid CBs in Terry and Cahill.

I completely disagree, I think Chelsea were/are the the perfect example of the right amount and mix of pace and power within a team.

Agree, along with City of course. Look at the difference having Silva playing centrally has made, with Sterling holding his position.

My message to him (Neville) is that he is spot on. It was an absolutely appalling performance from Wenger yesterday.

The team which he selects is totally unbalanced. He leaves our best (in-form) player on the bench until the last ten minutes . What does OX have to do to start a game ? He is the only player who is direct and drives into the box. We had no breadth on the right . Everything went down the left or through the congested middle. He persists with players who are under- performing. Ozil gave us nothing last night .

He never changes things when everyone can see that a change is necessary. Chambers should have been put out of his misery at half time and replaced with Debuchy .

For the next home game I would drop Ozil and Ramsey and play Theo and Ox on the wings with Sanchez and Giroud up front .Or play Ramsey instead of Sanchez.

Before I get wummed ...just look at the stats at home. One win in last 7 games and 5 of last 6 games goalless. That is relegation form .

What sort of Captain cries off with a "tummy ache" before a big game knowing that we have to rely on Callum Catastrophe Chambers? How did Southampton con us out of £16m for this Sunday league player? Did Per's mum write him a note ? Can you imagine Adams, Bould , Nutty, Keown etc crying off before a big game because they are feeling a bit under the weather ? Most of them played and played well with raging hangovers ffs.

Wenger needs to get help from someone else. He stays put on his bench for most of the game and just seems to freeze like a rabbit in the headlights when it comes to making vital game changing decisions. He has got too cautious in his old age and the team balance is all wrong especially against the top teams.

Neville hard truths

Neville is a very good pundit and just speaks the truth wenger has lost it and we will never win the league under him again.

While each and every Arsenal performance is now assessed to extreme levels, I believe a degree of perspective is required.

Many used to claim Arsenal would never win a trophy again under AW. Further to back to back FA Cup wins, this has now been altered to Arsenal will never win the PL under AW.

He has his faults, and there are some (obvious) flaws to his philosophy, however AW is not as inflexible as some believe. There are those who blindly follow him, and then those who slate him at every given opportunity. Neither are always right.

In regard to last night’s game having both first choice CB’s missing was a clear hindrance. While I would have preferred Ox to start, I can understand why AW chose Ramsey. His ball retention and ability to win back possession is much better. That said the changes were IMO left far too late in the game to make any meaningful impact.

I like Neville as a pundit, probably the best out there. Would love to be a fly on the wall if he was to sit down in private and discuss AFC with AW.

Why pick out coq and cazorla? Both have been real good for us. Coq did 2 last ditch tackles yesterday and helped out our makeshift defence pretty good. And Cazorla has been one of our most consistent players

Eight years ago on the previous JA606 I predicted that Wenger will never win another PL title or the CL, and the prediction still firmly stands. Anyone can win the FA Cup - ask Wigan or Pompey. Wenger has taken Arsenal as far as he can and the club has now stagnated under him. We definitely need a new manager who will look at the club from a new angle, bring in new tactics and take us forward. Three matches into the season we are already 5 points behind the leaders, who also have a huge 9-goal advantage. Last season we were out of the race by October. Neville is spot-on.

Neville is spot on. Even he as a neutral and ex Manc is tired of Wenger's antics.
He had enough yesterday and threw it out there.

Henry, on the other hand, how deluded was he? He had no clue what he was talking about.

Let's put all the other Wenger flaws to one side for a sec. The guy doesn't even know how to pick a side.

It's not directly a criticism of these players - it's a criticism of AW for not bringing in a Vieira-type player and therefore being forced to use Cazorla in that deeper role (though his age may also have had something to do with it) and to recall Coq from his loan as a last resort. The players have stepped up when asked (for the most part) but AW should have had a plan for it to not get to this point.

Wenger is football smart but very stubborn and reluctant to change his tactics. Yesterday was yet another tepid performance against Liverpool. This was a game that they needed to win.
