Maybe he's another player who Fergie got the best out of
It's Giggsy's "Well, we were saying..." look that he gives in return that's more telling, I think.

That is a killer look from Giggsy. Cuts to the bone.
Van Gaals look is the look of pure anger. Giggsy was a little frightened at first. Maybe he had told him that Hernandez is the best penalty taker at the club.
Perhaps Van Gaal had said to Giggs that Rooney should be taking the penalty and then he missed and it was more a look of 'I told you so.'
Not sure who the designated penalty taker is/was?
It's quite hard to judge the reactions. Whether it was Giggs telling LVG "I told you so", or he was saying "okay you were right".
Would imagine the latter as Giggs played alongside Chica at his best.

If memory serves me right, I'm sure that in his post match interview, LVG said that it was kind of Rooney to let Chicha take the penalty. Or words to that effect.
That would imply that Rooney was the designated penalty taker, but the decision to let Chicha take it was made on the pitch by Rooney.
That puts the reaction in a different context.
I wouldn't be surprised if that is Chichas last game for us, and that we have someone coming in now we are in the CL proper.
Yes, it will be interesting to see what happens in the market now. I wouldn't be surprised if possible targets were waiting to see if we qualified. Of course, the money men may also have been keeping the purse strings tight until we qualified as well. It might be an interesting few days.
I felt sorry for Hernandez last night as the slip was unfortunate. However, he missed an absolute sitter. It is funny how a players career can change on such moments. Hernandez could quite easily be waking up this morning with a couple of goals under his belt and felling good about the season. Van Gaal could be waking up thinking that Hernandez has something to offer the team.
Instead, Hernandez is quite possibly waking up having slipped behind Wilson in the pecking order. And should we sign another forwards, that could well mean the end of Hernandez's United career.
But who would we want to bring in?
Rooney is the number 1, whoever comes in will be coming in knowing he is second fiddle.
I don't think we'll be signing anybody else now
errr, I dont think that missing a pen is a sackable offence
Could just be, LVG thinking 'that was sh*t, why didnt rooney take it' and Giggs reaction being 'yeah, but these things happen'

It was the miss at the back post that was criminal. I like Hernandez, but I don't think that LVG is convinced by him.

Griezmann. Can play wide or centrally, so that gives him more chance of playing. Haven't Athletico had a long standing interest in Hernandez too?
He missed a great chance against Newcastle too. LVG tends to make decisions about players pretty quickly.

I didn't see the Newcastle game but heard that he had missed a good chance.
I am going to take a guess here and say that Rooney let Hernandez take the penalty because he himself was only too aware of the pressure to get that first goal of the season under your belt.
