Would be absurd to let him go!

He is a quality CB, although not captain material, as Rev points out.

Best remember it is a long season. Hobbs will break soon and Wilson will go missing once the temperature drops.

We desperately need a striker. We have places and don't need to ship out anyone.

Paul Taylor is cack

Not too fussed over Manciene. He tends to drift in and out of games. Ebicilio looks quality though. Give him a few games and we will see how good he is.

If anyone leaves I reckon it will be Antonio.

I think we have to sell someone due to getting under the FFP situation we find ourselves in.

Just wish we could get a proper striker in

Again though Rev, he's another one who is seen as prolific mainly because of his past record. The last time he bagged quite a few in a season was when he was with us, and then some were penalties and he went off the boil when SOD left.

I was watching the Donny vs Leeds cup game a couple of weeks back and the commentators were talking about this sub that was being brought on as adding some power and threat up front for the League One side. What was his name, maybe be worth a look.......

Nathan Tyson

I nearly spat my drink out when they said that

I stand corrected actually, just looked it up. Seemingly he's started scoring at a rate not seen since his first knee injury

There was an interview with Billy Sharp the other week. He said he was having a great season and then SOD left. Alluded to the fact that the chairman wanted to pick the team and it all went south rapidly. Penalties or not, ten goals in this league for a striker by Christmas isn't bad going. Blackstock, for one, would kill for such a record!

Can't see Sharp coming back and not sure he's a Dougie type player so would end up playing off the bench again which is no use to him.

Selling Mancienne would be very odd. Hobbs is our best defender but MM is a very decent player and can fill in across the back 4 and in midfield, even if that isn't his position.

We do need additional striking options though. Maybe suggest Fulham throw in Lee McCormick into the deal?

True, but look at this

Tyson scored 14 goals in all competitions in his first season at Rovers and won the Doncaster Rovers player of the year award.

The worlds gone mad I tell yer

Tyson was a major factor in Forest getting out of League One. That is his level but I'll always respect him for his efforts in a Red's shirt. Shame he wasn't treated with more respect towards the end of his time at the club otherwise he wouldn't have gone loopy and signed for the Sheep!

Sharp's record in last two seasons

P26 scored 6
P28 scored 5

I guess he's been benched a lot though

I think Imust be the only one on here who actually thinks MM isn't that good at CB

I remember last season when he was given the Captains Armband, he was quiet, couldn't motivate the players and looked despondent every time we let in a goal - not the kind of qualities you want in a Captain.

To be honest whilst I wouldn't like to see any of our 'decent' players leave, I'd much rather have Hobbs, Mills, Wilson (yes Wilson) ahead of MM in defence as I think they all command that space better and are more forceful and direct than he is

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is no captain and Pearce should've realised that. When paired with Hobbs at the start of last season he was very good. Positioning and timing were superb. Remember Sheff Weds away? He almost single handily repelled them in that second half. Wasn't the same when Hobbs was out.

Will, I liked/like Tyson to a degree and he was fairly prolific in League Two before we signed him and in League One before his first knee injury. There was a certain type of goal he used to score a lot where he would break away down the channel with his pace and slot it under the keeper. At that time he was a proper fan favourite and at the start of the season game where he did his knee first time (against Bradford), was easily the most popular name on the back of shirts.

Just seemed to struggle after that and gradually lose decision making plus judgement. Strangely enough though the pace didn't diminish much, more of decision making and confidence thing. I think Forest renewed his contract at one point where he was still in questionable form and the club gave him a lot of time to come good again, so I wouldn't say bad treatment at all.

I think shot confidence was biggest factor but also what was inferred above, that the Championship was just above where he was at when he came back.

______________

I agree with that Will

I don't think he's had opportunity to shine under Dougie, I can't remember him playing in his preferred position in a competitive game yet.

He's not a defensive midfielder in my opinion, that drives me nuts. I'd have him ahead of Wilson at the back

Rev, everything looked so good in those first few games. Then it all went to pot

Nathan Tyson destroyed Dean Leacock figuratively, literally, playing wise and career wise that time at the City Ground.

Paul Taylor pretty much said on the web chat that we actually pulled out as we expected the Lans/Juke swap to happen.

RNS say Reid has had a setback and won't be back until after the QPR game (whenever that is). Time to retire, and free up a space in the squad?

posted on 28/8/15

That's the game after the international break, don't think anyone expected him back before that anyway

posted on 28/8/15

What was I saying about Reid? No surprise there. I do wonder if he should retire at end of this season if he can't improve his fitness.

Not. Sur e about end of the season, end of the month might be better, I seriously believe he is crocked. Get rid and free up a place & wages.

Ray, I was referring to the whole spat between Marthur and Tyson's dad over the contract offer. All a bit unnecessary and played out in public (also a portent of things to come at the club...)
