Want your Billy back?

We may not go up Waggy, that wasn't even our aim this year (according to Morris and Rush) but we won't go down, you on the other hand I fear are staring down the barrel, unless FFP is thrown out in January.

Bent and Weinmann must be feeling mighty agrieved at the lack of pitch time and nobody can judge the latter as he has not been given a chance yet. A villa mate told me he is a cracking player but much better down the middle.
Carson is just a grumpy git and fails to acknowledge the crowd and I noticed today before the game kicked off he walked past his own players and blanked them.
Still need to be convinced by Hendrick and don't see anything special in Hanson (however young he may be).

I thought Forsyth was our best player today. During our good season when the full backs recieved the ball the attacking wide players ran to support them. Now a lot of the time they are left on their own so have to play the long ball or play it backwards. I don't know why we changed from this very successful method of play.

This is the championship, blood and thunder football, no time on the ball.

Clement is too use to continental football which is much more pedestrian which is what we are witnessing.

He needs to buck up his ideas or he'll find himself as a number 2 again.

Hard to say Wellies. Would you have spent 9 million on Andre Gray? 6 million on Gayle? 14 million on Rhodes? What were the striking options available for a back-up to Martin? Someone like McCormack would have cost a few bob and wages similar to Bent. Where are the bargains? Wood cost about 3 million and despite his goal today that doesn't look fantastic value for money.

Strikers need service. We haven't scored many this season but that is because of the overall play. Two key players got crocked in the first half hour at Bolton and two more the week after. Two more came off today. That's bound to affect the balance.

Priority one was central defence and I think Keogh and Shackell look a strong pairing and we have decent back-up too. Carson has looked very good so far. We have been very unlucky in midfield and what might have been a bit of strengthening in depthening now looks like an urgent need to plug a hole or three. But I don't sense much panic in Clement. I think he is still feeling his way in terms of what formation best suits the players but that is absolutely fine in my book. I think we can't draw any real conclusions until we've had a few months of the new manager and we've seen a settled team. A win or two and it'll all look a lot different.

Martin was almost out on his feet towards the end of the first half. He isn't built for stamina but was having to do all the ball chasing.

It did okay for Swansea though Igor, but I agree PC has to learn that what works in Madrid might not always work in the more cultured football cities like Derbaydos.

Time though ... maybe Carlo can come over n give him a few pointers.

Spart maybe teams figured us out and started defending deeper, maybe they learned that if they press us back we fold, maybe we got caught on the break with 2 full backs lost up front one two many times, maybe we put one or two too many crosses into the box for a crowded out Martin to never get near to, maybe teams pay us more attention knowing what we can do when you allow us to play, maybe our centre backs are no longer trusted to split either side of the penno area like they used to and push the full backs on or maybe a combination of all these,

Wisdom would largely hang back though during those glorious days when we were swaaaaaaag, though.

The fine line in football...if Hendrick or Johnny put their chances away then this whole thread would be so different. Pukka up Derby fans...I know I will be with this side and Clement at Preston and beyond...its not how you start....
