2 Gomis articles. The guy is playing at his level. Good for a club like Swansea not for us
i think maybe we are just all a bit desperate for a striker that everyone elses looks good
He's definitely not good enough but he is better than Giroud
"He's definitely not good enough but he is better than Giroud"
Similar level I think
Neither good enough for Arsenal, neither as good as Bony
Giroud would be banging them in for Swansea as well, at top clubs responsibilities for strikers are different and few can live up to it.
Baffled that there has been not one but two articles saying this. It's got to the point where I'm starting to think people overrate goals, or rather the goals stats or individual players, especially when dealing with a very small sample size.
It seems fairly evident to me from watching Gomis that he is a fairly poor player, whose touch, control shooting are erratic at best. And yet his recent goal record contradicts this. However people are all too happy to accepts the statistics without actually looking at the detail - how many opportunities did he have and how clear cut were they; how difficult where each of the goals to score and what did the sticker contribute to them i.e. a tap in from a scramble at a corner compared with a more accomplished but of individual play); who were the goals scored against, and how well were the opposition playing?
These are just some of the factors that should be considered to get a true reflection of the value of a players goal. Unfortunately most are subjective and difficult/time consuming to evaluate for any decent volume of goals, so people will just go with the headline figure and draw all their conclusions from that, when frankly it is a rather limited piece of information.
Strikers suit some teams and not others. Gomis works well at Swansea. As did Bony. Strong fast players who are technically proficient and good finishers. That help Swansea counter attack whilst still being able to hold up play and run in behind defences.

Dont be silly
Maybe we should make a cheeky bid for Bony
Bony is injured at the moment. Not something we should be bother of.
Gomis is Gervinho with end product. Defenders cant handle him. Never rated him at Lyon but have to admit he's been growing on me the last few months
Gervinho? The play nothing alike. Strange.
He's more like Adebayor if anything. Slightly harder working version. Think he'll fade away eventually.
