He was warnk today. Hope he improves sharpish.
The thing with Depay is that you have to remember he is 21. I am by no means a fan, I don't see what is so special about him at all. I mean, yes he's come with a reputation, but then again so many players from the Dutch league did - We know with them, they either make it or they are forgotten very quickly.
Nobody will know how his career will pan out, but when I have read things like "He'll be as good as Hazard, I do laugh".
Started okay, first half hour was linking up well but faded badly, really badly, agree should have been subbed.
When you think that Di Maria was a great player for Real and he refused to play him as a winger. You made a huge loss and bought in Depay who ... has potential - but for too much money.
People are going overboard with him, for sure.
The talent is there, no one can deny it. But everyone seems to just assume the consistency will come with experience. For a lot wingers it just doesn't - look at our very own Nani.
As I said, he definitely has the talent, but it's yet to be seen whether he will really make it here. If I had to bet, i'd say Adnan will turn out the better player.
in the PL he has been poor
no getting away from it
the brugge games have kept him in the team but he needs to do more than just keep cutting inside and trying to shoot.
Goes to ground way too easily for my liking. I knew he would frustrate tbf.
Think he was only kept on to deliver crosses into the box ala club brugge at home
Depay has a lot of potential, but that's all it is at the moment. He could just as easily go on to become the next Aaron Lennon.
He's a funny one, he clearly has the ability and the pace to go past his fullback, but rarely does it, in fact he doesn't even attempt to.
I'd be tempted to try him on the right wing.

Oh relax, seriously. Depay has just arrived. I am not a United supporter, but your asking a lot for 21 year old to come into a pretty poor United team (by United's standards) in his first season. I suspect his form will improve when the teams form improves, he was never going to be like Alexis and carry you through games.
Hes the most exciting
Jeez you lot. You can tell he has a lot of potential, there is so much scope for him to improve. He is adapting to the rhythm and physicality of the PL. He is built for the PL!
Give the lad time.
Admittedly, he was poor today and should've been subbed instead of Mata.
I'm excited to see what he can achieve with us in the LONG TERM.
Why write someone off who has shown glimpses of his ability?
Sure Depay has potential and with time he will improve... But when you are 2-1 down to Swansea away you don't take off someone who has been playing well and scored a goal and keep on someone struggled to control simple ground passes.
On another note, Carrick is our best player and needs a starting spot next to Schweinsteiger in every "hard" game.

Agree, he was on a booking, nothing was coming off for him so he should have made way for Young rather than Mata. I think Van Gaal made the wrong subs.
I'd have taken off Schweinsteiger for Carrick, Schneiderlin for Hernandez and Depay for Young.
A 4-4-2 to take a risk, Mata Herrera Carrick Young in midfield with Wazza and Hernandez up front.

Van gaal looks at the bench and all he sees is Fellaini. I do rate Fellaini but not as a striker and have surprinsingly noticed that he is the most effective player at playing the conventional no.10 - in between the lines role.
442 - That's the thing, LVG will never take a risk on something he hasn't researched for 2 years and completed a masters degree in!
Hernandez - came on against Newcastle - missed 1 v 1. Came on against brugge and missed some easy chances. Everyone knows he can finish from his first 2 seasons and a striker doesn't lose that ability. Even though he should be given a chance to get his confidence back, he is being sold and we will have a charlie Austin on the bench.
