Never been called a clown before, but ask me if I'm bothered.
You sound like one of the leader's of the spoilt, whiney brigade who cannot look at things objectively so there's no point debating with you
Goodbye.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope, I'm not bothered about losing games here and there, it is the lack of improvement that is concerning. LVG has been banging on about his so called philosophy, yet the team looks so fractious, disjointed and laborious in possession. We've sold both RVP and Di Maria without brining in adequate replacements and are now evidently short up front. You are severely misguided if you think we will be challenging City for based on what we've seen so far this season. Are only saving grace is that Arsenal, Pool and Chelsea currently look just as average as we do
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sorry to sound rude, but did you miss the bit in my original post where I stated that we are "one or two players short of a title challenging squad".
I'm not saying we are the reincarnation of Sacchi's Milan, far from it, but we have built a solid squad that is capable of another top 4 finish.
Admittedly, we should be aiming to push for the league, BUT we are 4 games in, we still look rusty, a lot of our player's don't look 100% yet and there is so much scope for improvement.
I say it all the time, our club is lumbered with so many embarrassing fans who cry at the first sign of danger and seem like it's a chore to support Utd. We have been spoilt feckin rotten and I can't wait for us to taste some success again but we don't have a divine right to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who the hell is crying or suggesting we have a divine right to win? People get so butt hurt if you dare to criticize the clubs transfer dealings. £230m and three transfer windows later and ironically LVG is the one one whining about how we don't have pace or creativity up front yet we are now going to be scrambling around in the last few days desperately trying to recruit players and will undoubtedly have to pay over the odds.

Because some people think 200 million should be a guarantee of instant success, but it doesn't always work that way.
Out of that 200 million, the 60 million player who was brought to bring speed and creativity has left for 44 million so we are still to replace him effectively.
People who have seen me post on here would say I'm fair, I'm not afraid to criticise the club. I just don't buy (no pun intended) the notion that because we have spent all this money (which we have needed to do, the squad needed an overhaul), that we should expect instant return.
Football for me is mainly psychological, and Van Gaal is mopping up Moyes' mess and the Fergie hangover.
I know its a totally different squad now, but I still don't think we are fully over Fergie because Fergie was basically Man Utd. We have transformed into a totally new culture and that's something money won't solve. Fergie could win a league with a bag of stardust and a lot of average players.

You seriously don't believe in psychology in football?
Mate, they're humans not robots, and if you don't have the right mentality, your ability goes out the window.
Teams don't fear us anymore and the fact we have spent 200 million doesn't change this, the Fergie factor is no longer and Man Utd are seen as much more vulnerable.
We need to up our tempo, be smarter against the more stubborn sides, but balance that with the solidity we have seen in our first three games.
It's early doors yet and seasons aren't decided in the first month. Chelsea will be right up there, but arguably they've played as badly as us for months now but have had the rub of the green. Yet again, Mourinho's phycology has played a massive factor in this, not the amount of money they've spent.
Tell me who has been a poor signing in Van Gaal's reign? I can tell you two and they aren't here any longer.
We have two days to bolster and I'm sure we will. I feel relaxed about the whole situation, why stress about something you cannot control?!

Toplad hows tricks my man?
We have a terrible goalkeeper, LVG has decided our number 1 isn't able to play, but also wouldn't sell him and bring a quality replacement in. We don't have an established quality centre back, and are relying on playing a small, slow central midfielder there... our best striker looks like he should be playing in the championship, and we cannot drop him as we have no other options that LVG believes in. We keep having to play Mata on the right, again because we have no better options on the wings. And Depay has looked poor so far despite the hefty price tag.
Yes I can understand why people are bemused after having spent 250 mill over the last couple of years, that we have so any glaring weakness throughout the team. Having spent all that money, how any of our starting 11 today would get in Chelsea or City team? I doubt any of them.
Marlo contradicting yourself. Is or isn't psychology a factor in football?

How have I contradicted myself exactly?
I've said that the money spent is not an excuse. Phycology does play a massive part, only an idiot would say it doesn't.
The two go hand in hand.
So basically you've spent a load of money, some of it has paid off, some of it hasn't.

Much like most clubs. I'd say a large percentage have been good buys.
There's no way you can overhaul a squad and expect every signing to be a success story. I think we have done well to be honest, but we are still short of finishing 'the process'.
Marlo, things are good bud, just want the window closed, hoping for a signing or two before the end, though. How have you been bruh?
Good stuff matey!
I'm off work all week so I'm buzzing with that, spend some quality time with the mrs and son.
I do enjoy the window but will be relieved when we sign Neymar on Tues night and we can purely concentrate on what goes on on the field
Lucky chit, you can enjoy the transfer window in peace then ey . How old is your son? I'm working bank holiday Monday, but double pay! Tuesday off though.
Haha, Neymar and Bale ofc, not looking forward to the International break either. Doesn't compare to the Prem!
He has just turned one mate. We called him Teddy, you'll never guess why
Double pay is sweeeettt, mate if I'd have been at work I wouldn't of got any extra an hour it's b0ll0cks.
I hate internations too TopLad, just want to play Liverpool next weekend and put today right with a victory
Looking forward to a peaceful Deadline day- my girlfriend knows how important it is to me haha!
Cute, hope you've bought him the United kit already! How old are you btw? Teddy is a great name
Ahh that is b0l l0cks to be fair, definitely better having the week off!
Exactly, even better knowing Liverpool are just as ch it as us, even worse probably. No Coutinho for them either
I need to find myself an understanding girlfriend like yours soon enough!
I'm 24 TopLad, how old are you my man?
To be fair, we liked the name anyway but for obvious reasons I wasn't going to object to it
I tell you what, I hope Hendo is out for them too, Coutinho is such a big miss.
I'd love Coutinho at Utd you know!, I think we should make a late play for him, at least if we didn't sign him we could potentially unsettle him
Ahhhh, to be fair my girlfriend is spot on when it comes to football. I can watch the games without distraction, she'll make me food, bring me drinks etc and she's actually gone out her way and studied a bit about the game so she can chat to me and watch it sometimes - heck I've even got her stickin accas on Skybet now
Good lasses are dying breed my friend!
My GF doesn't know much about football but being my GF she knows who Fellaini is. Any time we watch a movie and some shaaggy haired guy comes on she says 'look, it's fellaini'.
Pretty cute really.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because some people think 200 million should be a guarantee of instant success, but it doesn't always work that way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sorry but I just don't buy this psychological hangover nonsense. It's more to with the fact that our recruitment in the last few years has been very poor. Just like you said money doesn't equal success. We just haven't bought in enough quality players to give us that cutting edge up front. We look so laboured up front which is evidenced by the fact we have manage just 3 goals in our opening four matches in the league

ESPN ~ 10M
BBC ~ 14M
Take your pick... I'm more of a BBC man myself
I guess all fans would like to think they got the best possible deal...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
BBC appear to have gotten the Depay fee wrong too. They're saying it was 31 million but I'm sure I've seen we got him for nearer 25 million with performance based add ons.
---
Yeah performance based add ons that make the fee 31M, eventually, so I wouldn't call it wrong. Would you rather see him flop and we pay 25M?
Like I said fans always looking for whatever report suggests they got the best deal...

Another good article, Marlo. We've had to ship out a lot of deadwood, and there is still a few more to replace. A lot of squad players have left too. The 'process' is still going on. We're 3/4 players from being title challengers and it's expected imo

KingP1N.

Does she not get a teeny weeny bit jealous when you fawn over Fellaini on a regular basis?!
I bet the fact she takes an interest in Fellaini makes you want to give her a right good seeing to when the topic arises.
