Ali Bernabia - How could you leave him out?

It does annoy me. We wait all summer for the new season to start, only to have it interrupted again within a matter of weeks.

It is, though, what it is. Two ways of looking at it in regards to this season:

1) It disrupts our start.

2) It disrupts Palace, who would have been on a high after beating Chelsea.

The point being made here is that it can work both for or against teams. Not taking any injuries that may be incurred as a result of the international break of course!

Personally, I don't like it. Personally, I don't watch the international qualifiers. I just find them boring.

As for your question in regards to the best XI before the take-over, would have to include Martin Petrov, Elano, and Dunne in any 11. Kompany and Zab don't really count in my opinion, seeing as they were signed in the summer transfer window - the same window in which we were taken over. Yes, they were pre-takeover signings, but they didn't have the time to be regarded as being in a pre-taken-over team.

Hamann had a great season under Sven to be fair....As for Elano and Petrov great players but inconsistent for me.

Reduce the qualifying groups to 5 teams each.
2 qualifiers in the first winter, 4 in the non-tournament summer, then 2 more in the second winter of the two year period between tournaments.

The winter games can coincide with the winter 'breaks'.
The summer fixtures can be between the end of the season and mid-June.
Both periods would also allow for friendlies to prepare for the competitive games.

Pointless friendlies without competitive friendlies in the same period should be scrapped.

As for the question. No idea.

And the winter breaks can also coincide with the African Nations and Oceanic Gold Cup, solving that little issue.

Where's Gerry Creaney and the pointer?

I see it as two very good players playing in an inconsistent side.

Vic, you should limit it to players who have played at the Etihad prior to the takeover.

Possibly had Petrov had better a better striker to aim for maybe he would of had more assists and less frustrated.....Elano was a lazy shiet tho bar the set prices nothing special, that's why I'd have Barton over him at least he gave everything.

You can't include Hart either if you're going to exclude Zab and Vinny.

van Buyten. Much better than Distin.

Or, for sheer randomness of where you'd expect headers to go, David Sommeil is a shoe-in.

Whoever came up with the "International breaks" idea should be hanged, drawn and quartered, and then severely punished.

Although I love the World Cup and European Championships, it's very unfortunate that they come by having to play so many boring qualifiers at the expense of cancelling EPL matches just when the season has just started.

Wouldn't be so bad if some network would pick up games in the Football League Championship which are far more entertaining.(Truth be told, they are more often than not better to watch than a great many in the Premiership over the length of the season!)

There were 4 league games on TV over the weekend.
As well as conference football.

"Mackaroni".........unfortunately as far as football is concerned, not all of us live in the UK.
