This ref cost us at least a vital point here. He shouldnt be allowed to ref a game again.

If the FA dont want to become a laughing stock they need to ban Costa.

Herbie be honest mate. Our performance was good today. For once we looked confident at the bridge. The reds obviously changed the game
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyone who tells you otherwise has absolute no clue. This is not Wenger being clueless tactically. He got everything spot on. The red card changed the whole game

I didn't watch the Zagreb game but otherwise think we've played well and looked good this season, got unlucky and weren't clinical enough in games we dropped points but I don't get why gooners are so eager to turn on the team all the time
----------------------------------------------------------------------
because it's the same thing every season, no change
------
how is it the same though? you honestly don't think we're stronger than three or four years ago? our squad is twice as strong since then,

For a few moments before the Cazorla red, we actually looked like the team on top. The referee's performance was an absolute tragedy, I'm looking forward to hearing him justify it.

Regardless, we have fallen short. There are some huge games coming up for us to bounce back and prove what we're capable. Losing 2-0 with 9 men to the champions is not anything to be ashamed off at all - my only niggle is that a few players still didn't particularly look interested.

With ten men we looked better than them still. They have been awful but it's still Chelsea at the end of the day. Definitely wouldn't have lost with 11 imo. Fuming
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A Chelsea with a -6 goal difference coming into this game. A Chelsea that most of our board were taking unspoken glee in laughing at. A Chelsea barely recognisable from the ones we've played in recent years. They were there for the taking and even with 11 men we played like we always bloody do at Stamford Bridge. We remind me of what Chelsea used to be like when they played us in the first years of Wenger's reign and I always thought they were pathetic. I'm not about to think any differently of Arsenal just because I support them. We're pathetic as is the manager who let's them go out with the kind of mindset we came into today with/ Joke display again.

Say what you want about Per but he would never get sent off the way Gab was..
Needed cool heads out there today
----------------------------------------------------------------------
True. Wtf was Gabriel doing in an incident involving Kosc anyway? That was utterly stupid.

Thing is, we probably would have already been 1 or 2 goals dfown with Per playing. Gabriel is the better defender, our best defender on this seasons performances. My only gripe is that he didn't focking boot Costa, that petty flick has no place in our team - if you're gonna get a red, do it like Keown would have.

sent that to early...

last few years we have built a much stronger squad and won two trophies, people can choose to see things half full or half empty and Arsenal fans always want it to be half empty

Nobody is defending Costa. He provoked an idiot into a stupid reaction and a red card. Smart.

You said the exact same thing for the last 2 years. After the 6-0 you said we'd settled and were well in the game until the shocking refereeing decision to send off Gibbs.

After last years 2-0 defeat. We were comfortable and in control, but Wilshire bottling his chance with a heavy touch lead to the entire unit falling apart.

Today we were comfortable until we were wronged (and I agree we were wronged) but why on Earth can we never hold on? Why on Earth does it only take one setback for the entire plan to come crashing down over and over again?

Di Matteo took Chelsea to the Nou Camp with 10 and scored 2 from 2 behind against Guardolas Barca. Could you imagine a Wenger side even just holding out at the Bridge against the worst Chelsea side in a decade even just holding on? No need to imagine. We didn't.

I thought about this at the beginning of the second half.

Unfortunately, every honest Arsenal fan knows that we would never be able to pull off a similar feat.

I expect post match interviews
Mourinho: we were the better team before and after the red cards. Mike Dean had a good game.
Wenger: we were the better team before and after the red cards. Mike Dean was poor.

Exactly. It won't get a response though because people don't care to see what's in front of their eyes when all signs point to their messiah being a bigger problem than any isolated decision making from a woeful referee.

Arsenal lack big-game players, and it's all down to the manager. Once we are down to 10 men you know a defeat is almost certain.

What irks me to death is that an experienced ref like Dean fall in Costa's trap in provoking, diving all the way. He should know what a dirty player Costa has been...

Deflect all you want; it won't change that which is apparent; our manager and the players he's chosen to be part of this club aren't close to being good enough.

I fully agree with this. Arsenal has been in this slump since the Invincibles. We can blame the ref all we want but ultimately we have stagnated as a club. The team lacks leaders and big-game players with the necessary temperament to deal with such situations. And it's all down to the manager who buys the players and selects the team.

Leave the forum then you absolute child. I watched the same game as you and up until the sending off (which I agree was wrong) it was the same kind of display we always put on at the Bridge - only against a much worse version of Chelsea. We weren't the better team, we weren't the worst team, we were nothing and playing every bit as passively as we always do at the Bridge which against a terrible team was completely needless.

Costa not being sent off gives us a convenient excuse to not have to once again look internally aty what we're doing wrong over and over again. Why couldn't we play out the kind of rugged 0-0 we lambast other sides of being able to do against us? Why couldn;t we make it more difficult for them to break us down? Why couldn;t we keep at bay an awful side? All these things are things this side and this club will continue to be unable of whilst that fool is at the helm. It's not just a today problem, it's an evey year problem. I'm just not in denial.

The fact that nobody, barring the usual deluded fans, had us as favorites for this game tells you everything you need to know about this side and this manager. It's just so boring and disheartening.
